Ok now you just seem overly invested in this, why are you acting offended? Where did I say that I expected more? The FBI was doing their jobs with what they had, collecting evidence and trying to id the shooter. They were expending a massive amount effort and energy to figure out who the killer was. Ultimately none of it mattered because, unlike whatever you're trying to imply, they weren't close to finding the shooter on their own. The photos did nothing, neither the parents nor the friends of the shooter came forward until after he was in FBI custody and they made it public.
By luck or fortune, call it whatever, the shooter self reported on discord and to his family who turned him in. This is what happened, he was caught quickly because he was literally handed over. A normal manhunt like this would normally last a week, so it's an easy W to take when offered. When people criticize the FBI response to this it's not so much wanting them to do their job better it's more about how they responded with constant inaccurate Xitter updates and Patel's Valhalla moment. It made them look unprofessional, that's all.
Ok back on topic. Apparently the Kirk assassin is being moved into secure cell due to being seen a high suicide risk. He told his dad he would kill himself when he confessed to him and apparently he has said similar stuff while in custody.
