ex leftist here: it’s because engaging with “the enemy’s” media is seen as tantamount to betrayal and a deep moral failing. anyone who naively tries to engage with both sides or read multiple perspectives or talk about stories that are supposed to be ignored is quickly outcast in a lot of these circles. it’s an indirect admission of the flaws in the ideology because if your beliefs were actually solid you wouldn’t be afraid that engaging in any outside perspectives would “corrupt and brainwash you into believing the opposite”.
Do you not think that there is that on the Right? There’s dozens of different ideologies,
People that have power trips and want to control others and the sheep that can’t think without a talking head.
We’ve been literally killed, dozens of people, including Charlie Kirk , have been terrorized for daring to push against the leftist’s narrative.
Fined, fired, assaulted and jailed for not wearing masks. Killed, burned out, beat, for not saying a drug addict, women beating felon was a Saint.
And so, so much more.
I say this without malice but with the knowledge I will never trust nor forgive you. You’re still here playing victim. The only thing you risked by daring to not participate or do your own research is that your friends wouldn’t talk to you.
You’re not an ex- leftists. You’re like a refugee who fled to save their own ass instead of fixing the problems you made or sat silent and were complicit in. Or like a California transplant who eventually will make this place exactly like the place you left. Own your mistakes and fix your party.
