I agree. At the civic level, it all hangs on the notion of whatever diversity of background you have, we all share the same first principle. As an aside, it's part of why naturalization is important, by giving the immigrant applicant a preliminary indoctrination in the theory of what we're about and how we conduct ourselves. They see diversity and multiculturalism as inherently virtuous (it's not), and they also see those things as an excuse for moral relativism, cultural relativism, and even outright hybristophilia, when it comes to cultural elements that are OBJECTIVELY bad.

It honestly is. I remember when I was hanging out with shitty punk kids (I was 17-18 lol), I felt like I had to agree with the accepted talking points.

But I feel like when you're younger, you're more inclined to do and say things so people won't think badly of you– Especially when you know people will make call out posts about you on social media and ostracize you from the rest of the group, like what would always happen in my social circle when someone stepped out of line.

It happened once because someone laughed reacted something on Facebook once. It was a huge drama. Everyone attacked that person for days, even people that never met the person.

I realized I was different from them when one of my friends at the time said something about someone being misgendered by their sister. I was apathetic and they got mad at me for it.

There is definitely weird unspoken pressure to conform and be good, or else you'll have things taken away from you.

And it's not even friend leaving you- it's the looming unspoken threat of not having a job, being driven out of your hobbies, having a label put on you forever because people won't let others forget about your misdeed.

You can cure fucking cancer and solve all the problems in society, but they'll bring up how you were "horrible" when you were 17.
