The entire point is to control their fanbase and leave them in a perpetual state of fear so that they can control them. He doesn't think anyone will go after anyone. But he also knows his fanbase is dumb enough to fall for it. Thus, he says that everyone wants to kill them all so they will live in a perpetual state of fear. And that will eat at them and cause them to do bad things. Like kill a political commentator who is mildly rude about them. This mild rudeness combined with the fearmongering by the media heads causes them to lash out in what is perceived as an act of self-defense. Inevitably causing them to throw their life away over meaningless squabbles while media heads like him profit off of their fear and death.
Every single one of them had the ability to stop it before it happened. More likely is they groomed the one male of the group who had access to a firearm and enough training to do something with it into doing so. Probably used the same techniques as the feds use when they try to create a domestic terrorist to catch. Lovebombing then threatening to take it away. Given how Tyler seems to have not tried to troon out yet this might have been especially effective since he was already a marginal member of the group.
