Listen. I get it. If I found out my child murdered someone I would be absolutely gutted. I would struggle to handle with that realization and wonder where I went wrong. I really don't know how Tyler's father managed to drive his son to turn him in, pastor involvement or not. I would probably end up getting into an accident on the way there for becoming an emotional wreck. But. BUT. I would still contact the authorities and do my best to keep my son from offing himself in the mean time.

Because you have to consider the reverse. What if you were Erika? Your husband, the father of your children was murdered and the murderer's family knew. I can't speak for you, but I would hope and want them to turn the murderer in. The victim's family deserves justice and I want to live in a society where justice can happen. I know I being optimistic when I say that but fuck it. If I want my husband's killer to be turned in by his family then I have to be willing to do the same. Or at least try.

So yes. If my son killed someone, yeah. I can say I would turn him in. I wouldn't be happy about it because ultimately I would be losing my son, but the reality is: I would have lost my son the moment he pulled the trigger.
