My pet schizo theory: I’m pretty sure like 90% of the stuff this admin has done so far is because they’ve gotten info that the CCP is guaranteed to attack Taiwan within the next few years. Rebuilding manufacturing. Creating public sentiment against “legal” immigration so they can be rounded up when the time comes. Sealing the border. Trying to pull out of Ukraine. All of this stuff is great and should have been done no matter what, but the pace suggests that it’s extremely urgent that we get these problems solved quickly. And I can’t think of any other reason why.

tl;dr Deng Xiaoping was a god amongst men in terms of economic growth and now China is super fucked. So are we of course.

Massie and Trump agree on a lot of things culturally (pro-gun, anti-trans), they clash on economics due to Massie being a fan of libertarianism compared to Trump. I'm pretty sure he opposed Biden as much as he opposed the current administration but he just stands out more as a dissenter because he is a Republican going against other Republicans. He's also getting more donations apparently by being the "anti-Trump figure" so he probably won't stop his behavior anytime soon, especially since at this point the President is planning to pick someone to against him in the upcoming 2026 mid-term primaries.

In short, its libertarian economic and fiscal hawk principles versus a conservative populist agenda (tax cuts and border security even if it increases the national debt) mixed with at what this point seems to be personal feud between the two.

If fully earned, the award would materially increase Musk’s voting power from his roughly 13% stake, intensifying debate over governance and succession.

Musk would receive no salary or cash bonus under the proposal, with the compensation is tied to stock awards that vest only if Tesla meets both market cap and operational targets, such as selling millions of EVs, deploying robotaxis, and delivering AI-powered humanoid robots.
The company's shares were up about 2% in premarket trading.
Tesla's board earlier this year approved an interim compensation package for CEO Elon Musk worth about $29 billion in restricted stock, designed to keep him at the helm through at least 2030 as the company pivots to an AI-first strategy.

If China is stupid enough to invade Taiwan over demographics after watching Russia thrown hundreds of thousands of men into the grinder in Ukraine they're far more stupid than I imagined. Unless they can be absolutely sure that Taiwan can't take out the Three Gorges Dam in retaliation they can't move.

Invading Taiwan won't fix China's economic problems either. They need to stop cooking their books and let the artificial bubbles they created deflate.
