ironically enough the best way to improve the birth rate is by improving people's lifestyles, the birthrate peaked in the US and most other countries during "peaks" of the economy 2007/1990/1960s. meaning if you kick out enough immigrants so that jobs pay better and things like rent and food costs drop you end up incentivizing procreation even better than literal bribery. fuck tax credits, make it so having a child doesn't ruin your life and you're not forced to eat vienna sausages, spam, and ramen with your kid to survive and you'll be shocked how quickly people are willing to keep children and raise them

i don't know who here said it but someone called it out for big /r/the donald energy and it feeling like a lot of people trying to relive the highs of the first trump admin. that was spot on. admittedly trump's people are way more proactive about lip service, especially for bad moves like the chink student visas, but results are a lot different from where they were in 2017. like the admin understands the media game perfectly but if you check back on a story months later nothing happens, like someone said, they're painting themselves as fash-lite monsters but the policies aren't too different from what the gop was advocating for a decade ago. very similar to how the right wing party in other countries embraced trumpism in marketing but policy wise remained the same.
