Middle Tennessee State @ Wisconsin (-28.5) is my gambling lock of the week. MTSU lost to Austin Peay (FCS, 4-8 last year) 34-14 week one. I don't expect the Badgers to be anything special but MTSU might be one of the worst, if not the worst (hello Kent State), FBS programs this year.

How many guys putting up massive numbers on a G5 team have we seen struggle against P4 competition? I don't think any QB is worth half a Nico, considering Dook doesn't have any talent around him. Tulane is looking really good this year as well, so it might not have been Mensah alone.

Archie was a beast in college and had some solid stats in the pros, the only problem is that he was on the 70s-80s Ain'ts and they were absolutely putrid. No free agency back then, so no way to get out of it.

Eli had some braindead moments, but you don't lead a team to multiple rings without being intelligent.

Peyton- the only reason we're not calling him GOAT is because of Tom Brady. College superstar, he should have a Heisman but the media was determined that 1997 was finally the year a defensive player should win it. He was about the only guy who could challenge the Pats dynasty in the late aughts and the Colts fell off a cliff when he left. Even in his 40s with 2 bum ankles he was audibling and cooking defenses. I think the issue is either “eh, first game in a hostile environment against a defense that looks to have a bunch of future pros” or “This is his first real start after showing glimpses of skill as a Quinn Ewers backup. And it came to this. What’s gonna happen when he faces the grind of an SEC schedule?”

I’m willing to bet that this doesn’t happen as much as it had if the media didn’t hype up the name on the back of the jersey because in college , that name doesn’t mean anything until you do something great for the name on the front of the jersey. I’m willing to bet coaching has a similar thing going on with how the Bill Belichick era at North Carolina started.
