Yeah, the Fair Housing Act killed communities, so no more "no children" apartments. Still, they could at least make two rules:
1) Anyone knowingly renting to someone who's not supposed to be in the country (or without valid ID) should face criminal charges.
2) Foreign nationals, even legally allowed, are not entitled to the FHA's protections.

It's especially when the U.S. allows foreign nationals to rent at fair pricing standards but the reverse isn't true in host countries. If China and India can fuck over expat Americans, then it's only fair that we do the same unless they change their rules.

that's nice and all but the big issue for communities is that some cities have anti-"crime free housing" laws which means your neighbors who rent can be a menace and there's nothing you can do about it. the scenario i'm think about is that the grandparents takes in their hoodrat grandchildren to the suburbs where they continue to do hoodrat shit and antagonize everyone endlessly and no amount of police is going to matter because they're juveniles. in a real society, grandma and grandpa lose their rented home and get sent back to where they came from where they can bitch about people pulling the ladder up behind them. i'm fortunate to live an city that has nusiance laws not related to domestic violence and i cant sleep all night instead of being waken up at 2 am by rap music. i was sympathetic but even the domestic violence exception needs to be done away with because i can easily see a single mommy getting beat by her excon bf while her kids terrorize the neighborhood as a form of lashing out. the other solution is rent increases but that affects everyone and is unfair. I've lived with both issues and there is no net good for society with anti-crime free housing.
