Conservatism is really just liberal principles from the day before. Traditionalism at least in the US, is the same thing. It’s just boomers holding onto Nostalgia for a outdated and slower time, or people who never even lived during the time romanticizing it, usually because they don’t feel meaning in our time.
But instead of realizing that consumer culture, and capitalism has rid people of meaning, of having a family, of not being oppressed.
They blame it on the very same people being exploited, you see it, when immigrants from third world nations are brought to the US for cheap jobs, instead of blaming the CEOs for exploiting these people, they blame it on the desperate people being exploited, neglecting the very fact that they are forced to move to these countries, because both in their native, and current nations, they have and are being exploited. Only real difference is that in their natives countries, because of multinational corporations overthrowing and murdering activists and revolutionaries, and it’s not much better in the west, they have to worry about White Nationalists, Trump, racist police, ICE, the bourgeois, and a lot of racist nepobabies.
So what I find with all these things is that nothing changes, when a Republican is elected, or a democrat, it always stays the same. The US is a two party system, and both of those parties are capitalistic, extremely capitalistic, both have the same overlords, and both have nearly the same foreign policy as we have seen. And after all that, you might ask yourself “what really does bring change in society”, and the answer is class dynamics, and economics. The US is a capitalist system, what that really means is that whatever produces the most capital is what gains power, not religion, identity politics, capital.
Capital is the only driving force in our society for anything, and if you truly want social change, you gotta change how capital is distributed.
TLDR: Conservatism is just nostalgia for something that wasn’t any better, immigrants are just a scapegoat for problems created by corporations. Capital has taken away meaning in life, and exploits all. Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the same coin, If you truly want change you need to change how we share capital.
