That’s not really unique to the Republic, and isn’t really instructive for America since that difference was very distinct in Rome, down to its codification. If anything, the similar conflict in Golden Age Athens is more instructive for us than Rome’s is.
Or maybe the rise of strong men leaders? Again, that’s not really instructive for us at the current moment. Much of the issue for Rome in this regard was because of its military structure, especially as it developed in the later parts of the Punic Wars and beyond. We don’t have those issues, American politicians aren’t also generals who are also the people who are paying their armies in lieu of the State.

As I said, the comparisons are severely overblown. Any “broad strokes” resemblances are so broad that you can make them between any two societies.
