I was in Beppu and Oita about a month ago. These are places that have tourists, but they are ones who want to go see Japanese things. They're largely hot spring and festival towns. To put it simply, it's nowhere a jeet should ever be.

They have a parliamentary system. So yes, in recent elections the sanseitou did well but the prime minister Ishiba seems to want to flood it with Jeets. We’ve seen this for years with European countries - the right wing, anti-immigration party grows but the powers that be will keep funneling them in as long as they have any power whatsoever. In fact they start panic-funneling them in faster as they’re about to lose power.

Remember we here in America have had pretty solid anti-immigration sentiment since before we voted in Trump the first time. It requires critical mass of people noticing AND the right people being in charge before it stops. Even if Europeans decide to throw all the migrants out tomorrow, it’s been nearly 15 years since they were let into Europe. So my guess is that Japan will be stuck with experiencing nightmare mode for the next 10-15 years.

The last time I was in Japan, the news quite often played pain-porn about Pakistan and the Middle East. All the boomers felt so so sorry for them. They really are using the style of propaganda you would see in western media back in the 80s-early 2000s.

Don't know if Mao Sugiyama/杉山真央, the guy most famous for cooking and serving his own severed dick 'n' balls at a banquet has done much else of note but he at least warrants a mention here - claims to be "asexual" (aren't most Japanese dudes nowadays though?) and supports the "X-gender" community which is pretty much just the Japanese counterpart to "non binary".

Ishii and Utada both becoming woke makes sense since they are as u said born/raised in the USA. But I wonder how that happened for Aoki? Becoming NB then becoming a pooner?
