One thing I'd be very interested to learn is what the average lifespan of a Destiny fan is. Destiny misunderstands Hasan's criticism when he calls Destiny a debate mercenary. The criticism is that Destiny has no principles and no real beliefs. Like everything else in his life, his political beliefs are very self serving. It's not normal to go from a Republican, to a libertarian, to a Bernie Bro, to an anti-socialist, to someone sympathetic to Fuentes and Southern, and back to an anti-Trump guy. Surely people are falling off and being replaced over time, so I wonder what that replacement rate looks like.
You can see videos from around the time Bernie and Biden were "competing" with each other in 2019 where Steven says every two years he looks at his old opinions and cringes. I think it's pretty obvious that his political views are in part from spite, but also come from trying to get some ass. Young "college aged" girls lean left. If Destiny was more masculine and could get conservative girls, I suspect he would probably lean right just to get some action from them. He certainly did with Lauren Southern, who he once debated against on the pro-Palestinian side of the aisle.
Being on the left just benefits him more. Because
- His parents are right wingers and he wants to punish them like Nathan is now punishing him.
- "Barely legal college girls" are more left leaning.
- Donald Trump is a more successful cult leader than him. Donald Trump is what Destiny wishes he could be when it comes to leading a bunch of idiots whichever way you decide the wind blows. How many of his criticisms against Trump and MAGA also apply to Destiny and DGG?
Even his red pill arc happened because he wanted to set himself up as a pro-woman guy on shows whose audiences are full of gullible women who want to go on those shows.
So I don't know if it's that DGGers can't separate the art from the artist. I suspect that a lot of DGGers get tired of him and he just replaces them.
But I'd say this leans a little too generous towards him. Willymac's been getting (justifiably) berated by the commentary community for months about his association with and perceived covering/sweeping for Destiny. He's guilty of twisting facts to suit destiny's narrative, and he's careful to levy criticism in the "safe"/sanitized way destiny allows you to criticize him.
Go back and watch Bob7 or Max/Lav stuff. You can see just how good at controlling people Destiny is without them knowing it. The commentary community attacking Willymacshow makes it more likely that he'd fall in line with Destiny. Same as lefties attacking Kyle Rittenhouse pushed him into the arms of right wingers. I don't really fault him for being gullible or being a useful idiot.
I don't really like to schizopost conspiracy theories, but I wouldn't be shocked if the guy who doxed Willymacshow did it so WMS would hate Kiwifiarms because Destiny wants him to hate Kiwifarms.
