I'm not talking about old accounts, but old people (i.e. literally over retirement age). 65 or older. Boomers are the cancer of modern society but we all are individuals and, historically, the elderly have been the beacon of wisdom for the rest of humanity.

If possible, it would be nice if the ideas were positive, or at least useful. I know we're all nihilistic, cynical faggots in here; but I'd guess an elderly person would've committed suicide if they didn't really believe in something that would make them move forward day by day.

I'm not AARP age quite yet, but the only "wisdom" that comes with age is injury and loss. Frankly, "that will fuck you up" is the root of all wisdom, and you don't need to be old to learn hard lessons.

Study up on sports injury/medicine, or go to the "Watch People Die" thread if you want wisdom.

I'm not quite that old, but here's some wisdom anyways:

You can be however you want to be in life, you can make a choice of the type of person you want to be. If you want to be a good person, you can. To live without self-examination is to drift without direction, which will allow habit, impulse, and circumstance to shape who you become.
The person you become is not something that happens by accident, at least it shouldn't be. The shaping of the self is a conscious act, one on which you should reflect on regularly.
Envision the values, traits, and goals you want to achieve and work towards it, with deliberate effort. If you want to be an honest person, and you find yourself lying, don't just justify it away, hold yourself accountable.
Growth is not about being in a stable state, it's about understanding that you are always becoming the next version of yourself, and by facing yourself honestly and intentionally, you can shape your life rather than be shaped by it.
