🥝 Community Kiwi Farms Community Doom Mapping Project No. 2! - Now with custom Kiwi-assets!

Null posted this today on the official MATI telegram:

Someone may want to go whisper in his ear about configuring GZDoom properly (texture filtering, lighting/fog/renderer settings, etc) so it won't look like total ass

I used my bat-phone to warn him that everyone will make fun of him if he doesn't disable texture filtering.

There's 20 levels in total. After the first 10 levels, there's a surprise boss battle. It took me a few days because I like to play games at my leisure (super slow) so my opinion doesn't matter but 11 really hours is likely an over exaggeration unless you're going for 100% completion or on a higher difficulty. Probably 7-9 1/2 hours.

Here's a 100% complete save game file to save time in case you get stuck due to bugs or not enough time to complete it but just want to explore at the end of the second stream.

Put it in C:\Users\username\Saved Games\GZDoom\doom.id.doom2.commercial then restart. I used GZDOOM 4-14-1

By sheer coincidence I've been playing this for the past few days. I expected it to be more maps like the first one and was blown away by the quality. Here's hoping that these projects continue! (Can anyone recommend other Doom mods/maps of similar quality?)
It depends on what you want. If you’re looking for a heavily modded experience, then there really isn’t an equal (at least in tone).

If you’re ok with a more vanilla experience, but a goofy tone, then I’d recommend Going Down by Cyriak/Mouldy. It’s a standard 32 map megawad about Doomguy being an exterminator that goes through an office building floor by floor. Heavily recommend playing on a lower difficulty level though if you’re not familiar with classic Doom more broadly.

I played around to test settings and recording. I've figured out the hub and how to enter maps. Is there a specific order to play in? Is the half-way boss just after I beat a certain number of maps?

Play low difficulty maps first, maps have a color code on them, green for easy, and eventually becomes more orange / red on the teleport as it gets harder (red levels are locked initially anyway). Besides that, no particular order

I will say, orange / red levels MIGHT benefit by using the difficulty tweak machine by the massive level entrance teleporter. which you can change difficulty independent of the map, so orange / red maps probably will benefit from being put on at least "hurt me plenty", if not "not so rough", particularly if you are (understandably) rusty with skills of playing doom.

very cool to see all the references and memes, good work everyone

still wondering why PJW is a miniboss, feels like that's personal tbh
Just a note for next stream @Null since you didn't seem to do it yet, to reach other maps you need to stabilize the network (you already did this) and go to the powerplant and turn on full power to the base, as full power is needed to reach harder maps. Just figured it was worth noting so you don't start next stream confused what to do.

other notes
-you can enable a crosshair in options, you can use search options to find it
-theres a kiwi bar in the basement which is cozy as fuck (I think it takes like 8 sneed to enter?)
-I THINK your gzdoom client is out of date, since some paul joseph watson voices didn't activate. It might be worth checking if you have the version up to snuff for it, its highlighted in the op nvm I'm dumb
-Getting all the coherent hyper logics (the double circles in levels) is worth it as it unlocks something VERY kiwi themed if you get them all, and take them to R&D upstairs

The bar has no entry requirement

There are no additional voices, that was only in the Gibins video, which was AI generated speech for PJW.

As fun as the gimmick weapon is, it's not worth the effort for Null to grind through all the maps again just to get a reskinned plasma rifle. This will 100% piss him off.

Damn, I guess my memory is shit. Appreciate you double checking though. Regardless, he'd be over the level to enter the bar anyway, and it has an amazing vibe. well worth checking out

You might be right with hyper logic but assuming someone could be in chat to show him exactly where, I think it's worth it, especially for eventually killing the final boss. That requires someone in chat for that though, or someone detailing each one.

If you just tell me precisely where to go in a DM I will get the finished maps on my own time and look out for them on the new maps
