I don't see Matt and Trey doing that. I see them doing what they have always done
Depends how you define "always". South Park used to be sharp, clever and hilarious but at this point it's just been lazy, dumb, predictable content for longer than it was ever good. Unfortunately at least half the population are below average intelligence, so there will always be a market for dumb shit.
Like The Simpsons, it's a zombie show that keeps shuffling on despite all its creative juices drying up some decades ago. They could use ChatGPT to write the scripts and you wouldn't notice any difference.
It's been on the air since the 90's, spanning
four decades now - that is not an achievement, it's like an ancient Egyptian curse. But like a delusional 40something who still thinks they're cool, they seem to think they're still as hip and edgy as they were in 1998.

The very worst thing that can happen to a comedian is when they stop being funny. That's when they should retire. I'm not picking on Trey and Matt though, I'd be a fat, boring, multimillionaire sellout too if that was on offer. It's not their fault broadcast teevee is a dying medium that's unlikely to live much longer than the Boomers.
Imma Mike Stoklasa for a minute here and point out that Star Trek TNG predicted, in 1988, that television would be extinct by 2040. Star Track was right about that, so maybe we'll get the Eugenics Wars after all.
