They sit for hours multiple times a week on the machine and then are so exhausted they can barely walk to the car for the trip home. You can't reverse kidney failure (that was the case in my experience) and the person is usually on borrowed time. Most aren't candidates for a transplant (even if the could find a match) and I highly doubt they'd be wasting an organ on a 500 pound person because it would never work out with all her comorbidities.

I know everyone's different and I don't know about Chantal's health history but IMO kidney failure requiring dialysis would be a death sentence for her.
