I don't know if you've ever spent an extended period of time in a third world country, but if you have, think of the arthritic bureaucracies you had to deal with, the unreliable infrastructure, the cynicism and passivity of a general public that has been totally buckbroken, the way nothing worked quite right, and think about how you had no recourse if something bad happened. That's America in ten years.
(Ironically, many "third world countries" are getting their shit together and are already just as liveable as America)

I reckon that the younger Democrats and SJWs will overthrow the establishment Dems and make a beeline for the throne. As for the conservatives themselves, Trump's term has destroyed people's faith in their cause. Only the blind will keep voting for the Right at this point. The Left will have an even stronger mandate than they did in 2009, when Barack Obama was elected.

This is part of the cause for the spergout about Ezra Klein's new book Abundance. Its been totally ignored by rightoids as far as I know, but wokesters, the few tankie types who haven't hanged themselves, and the Chapo crowd all expected the path to power to be cleared, and Klein seems to be trying to create an alternative that is not much different than Obama-era liberalism, which was ambivalent about identity politics and broadly supportive of developments in tech and business that makes life so shitty today.
(I haven't read the book yet, only an excerpt)

Biggest thing I've heard about the book was the arguing about deregulation. Pissed off SJW types that believe you should maximize regulations to put a chokehold on the rich, while the more sane libs kinda find the idea of opening up a path to more housing to be nice since it could mean lower rent costs.
It's pretty much stealing a right wing position regarding a subject that many of them are vulnerable on since not a ton of them are eager to argue for making higher density cities as they'd prefer to keep the urbanized portions separate from where they live.

Do you really think it's mega woke SJW tankies who run planning committees in suburbs which kill any attempt to expand the housing supply in their communities? Or that such people are heavily concentrated in upscale private neighborhoods? Homeowner groups will use any rhetorical and legal tool available to them to stop the value of their property from plummeting because some apartment buildings have been built nearby.

I see the 2028 election being a clown show for the GOP. Let us for a moment forget that a senile Trump won't try for an unconstitutional third term. There is no way Trump would let the GOP primary in 2027 and the election in 2028 make him a lame duck. Trump has to be the center of attention. He would turn the primary into a contest to be his pick. It would be his lame reality show all over again. The eventual GOP nominee would spend more time sucking up to Trump than being their own candidate.

This is precisely why we are in the predicament we're in, with radical left vs. radical right and moderates being left out. As soon as the woke started pushing their agendas so forcefully, I knew the right would clap back. I don't think Trump would have ever been elected otherwise. I lean a tad left of center, but I have voted for both Democrats and Republicans. I'll take a Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, or Susan Collins any day.
