No, it's because Elon is grifting off of solar/battery subsidies. Solar and wind are the most expensive forms of energy by far because they're unreliable and require a dispatchable power source (i.e. fossil fuels, nuclear, hydro, etc.) to back them up. This of course begs the question, if I have to build a backup plant, why would I not just use it all the time and not waste money on the solar/wind farm?

Imagine vehicles that produce zero pollution and run on the equivalent of a quarter per gallon.
