Barker is just flat wrong.

Shit, Arthur Conan Doyle believed in fairies, Agatha Christie was a racist, Roald Dahl was all manner of politically incorrect, H.P. Lovecraft literally owned a cat named "Nigger-man." While the Progressive movement has made concerted efforts to ex post facto cancel and expurgate these people from civilization, the vast majority of the world pays no attention and couldn't give half a shit.

He's either gone vegan (though he's denied that a bunch and says he's just a bit veggie) or he's got some nasty disease. I lean towards disease. He did a media blitz a few months back, revealing the "truth" about "fan rumours", so now searching for anything about him only gets you page after page of "david tenant has an extra toe". Anything else is completely buried.

As someone who is very much a fan of Clive Barker, this whole statement of his was very disappointing.

However, I think it's worth noting that all of Barker's books are currently out of print. I also think it is worth noting that the publishing industry is currently overrun with gender cultists. Call me cynical, but I think that if we consider these two facts, his statement and the actual meaning behind it becomes obvious.
 
I must confess, I am exaggerating somewhat for comic effect - I don't really have much of an issue with the idea of a black Hermione. It's just so very obvious and easy. So obvious and so easy, in fact, that countless people in this thread predicted that they would do it. For decades, no one had a problem with Harry and his friends all being white, but we can't have that now, so we'd better make one a brownoid.

It's a needless, unnecessary over-correction of something that arguably didn't need to be be corrected and wasn't even necessarily a problem, but in the Current Year, where apparently everyone in media can only ever see things through the lens of woke culture war issues, must now be addressed, to fix a supposed flaw that previously nobody noticed or cared about.
 
With the announcement of the kid casting (or really anytime the show gets discussed), I see comments where people are convinced the show is single-handedly some scheme by JKR to erase the original movies in order to get back at Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson for being pro-trans. Do people actually believe a) she cares that much about what they think b) has that much power?

The show is clearly a cynical cash grab by Warner Bros just like every other reboot and remake, but nah couldn’t be that, it’s totally all to do with Rowling being evil
