If you’re fairly busy and apolitical and actually go outside and touch grass a lot, it’s easy to not notice this shit
I feel like normies or extraverts are more pro trans because they are meeting all the trans that get out of the house and party. Meanwhile internet communities and such are focusing on all the autist lolcow type trans (who granted are probably the majority) but normies are not seeing them as they don't leave the house.
I know plenty of people who hold a casual "oh, it's weird and I'm not a fan" opinion but aren't firmly against it simply because they don't know or think about it. If you are part of groups that are very exposed to it (nerd hobbies, internet communities besides normie apps like IG or FB, being gay or gender non-conforming, etc.) it feels like it's everywhere because they have a chokehold on those niches, but irl they tend to shrink back and most people never actually encounter the horror stories—and if they do, they view it as an isolated incident. Yes there are more and more high profile cases who take it past whining online, like Yaniv, but these stories are still niche if you aren't already paying attention.
Many normies also don't really categorically recognize "transgender people" as their own group and are ironically more colorblind about gender identity than people who are firmly against it. E.g., if I shared Yaniv's story, a lot of people I know would just take it as "ugh, there are some really creepy men out there, huh?" because they aren't cognisant of anything else he could be. I have a cousin who claims to be a ftm (fujo phenotype, she's very feminine) and my family disagrees with it but doesn't think she's being serious or part of a broader trend, they just think she's committing to a weird dumb larp for funzies. Which... Is true... But they don't really "get it" because they are completely disconnected from the idea that trans people do unironically, seriously believe it in their own minds.
When talking to normies like that, you have to be conscious of this, because if you aren't careful about meeting them where they are, you'll ironically sound like the insane one for trying to lend credibility to the idea of it being "real".
Once troonism gets eradicated I think BDSM should be next. It is literally just the sexual fetishisation and glorification of torture.
BDSM has a similar issue as LGBT where they try to ship disgusting horrors in the same package as something harmlessly weird. A husband and wife who like to play around with light restraints or with one spouse taking the lead is normal and not objectionable at all, and I'm saying this as someone who'd be considered a religious prude. But there's the extremes where people are performing serial killer-esque abuse and that gets tied in under the same umbrella term. Same for "some people are naturally attracted to the same sex and we shouldn't be cruel to them for inclinations that they can't control" being paired with SRS.
It really muddies discussion because when someone makes a claim about BDSM or LGBT, there's a lack of clarity about what they're referring to in particular. It also causes people to assume that if someone supports the mildest corner then they must also support the most intense parts of the same package. For instance, when Pope Francis talked about LGBT rights, he didn't mean it in the same way as the Twitter activists, he meant that it's nasty that some countries will straight up kill people over being gay and that you shouldn't beat up that fruity kid at Catholic school.
