Basically it would be nice to get hand held from the the start of both cases up until the collision of the two cases mentioned in your message.

There is literally a summary of the Greer 10th Circuit case in the OP, and as for the petition, the first few pages of the doc summarizes the litigation events. Tldr:

Music industry found people infringing on their music, sued the ISP claiming that they are liable for millions because they didn't remove the users' access to the internet, lower court disagreed, and the 5th circuit said that actually the music industry was 100% correct. Now the defendants are petitioning the Supreme Court to intervene, and as a circuit split (disagreement between appellate courts), they cited the difference between the Greer case, their case, and some cases in the 2nd and 9th Circuits.

I will note that I summed it all up in one clear sentence both in Community Happenings and when I made the post here. You can't get much clearer than "Sony thinks they should be able to ban you from ever using the internet if they accuse you of infringement".

I disagree. He deserves negative credit because the things he tries literally can't work, which is worse than not even trying at all IMO. Especially since he's such a genuinely unpleasant person to deal with everyone gets fed up of his shit, and it's probably making things even harder in reality.
