Speaking of cars, I can't get over how hard different states are trying to push electric car charger integration and how so many auto companies try to brag about how great their chargers are. Mercedes Benz boasts "our industry-leading chargers can charge your car from 20 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes." So you get the equivalent of just over half a tank in almost a half hour? I can fill my gas car up in a minute and be on my way with better gas mileage, in a vehicle that doesn't weight 1 and a half times (or sometimes 2 times) heavier and thus destroys the roads faster (while not contributing to maintenance because no gas tax).

That kind of fast charging costs as much or more than gas though and is not really used a lot. Most (realistic) people think of an ev as an around-town car and charge overnight at home for cheap.

In recent years they have started doing this lovely thing where they raise or introduce new car taxes and then, cause they are so fucking generous, give you a tax break if you buy a EV. Fuck em. If something actually happens, sure. But this is just talk right now. Yes, an EO is talk IMO until people in this country stop paying $100's for Insulin every month. Insulin price is my barometer of how much "happenings" is happening regarding our political system actually having an effect on drug prices. You know the kinda funny thing is, there IS an economically viable alternative to electric cars that doesn't require people to do much: True Hybrids.

Once again, Toyota is the smart one in this. They are ignoring the electric car dickriding and focusing on hybrids, because they see hybrids (true hybrids, not plug-ins) as the best way to reduce emissions without headaches.

The reason why True Hybrids (Prius) are selling well is because THEY ARE PRACTICAL. All you have to do to start getting better gas mileage is to just buy the fucking car and drive it. You don't have to make modifications to your infrastructure, you don't have to build energy stations, you don't have to snake a fucking 100' cord from your apartment down to the first floor to do it. It requires ZERO effort and investment on your part other than to pay for the fucking car.

The problem with progressives is that when they try to push this shit., they go fucking overboard and they DON'T THINK ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES of the shit they push. A lot of so-called "Green" policies disproportionately hurt the poor. That dindu on Section 8 is NOT going to buy your fucking electric car. They're too busy blowing their money on Dodge Chargers while running away from the police and wrecking them.

Honestly the RamCharger looks like a great idea, too bad it's Stellantis who is doing shit at anything electric or hybrid. The pure battery 145 miles is a bit short though. I took the other option and just went with a giant battery GM instead.
