It's a sliding scale of individual resentment that can change in any given situation and where context has to be taken into account.

The Content Cop + Hasan/other streamer inclusions in it = dogpile. There's a bit of an error to be made in thinking the debate itself was important. Nobody's watching 5 hours of Hasan and Ethan arguing in circles unless they're already obsessive fans whose opinions cannot be swayed. I wouldn't be surprised if Ethan "won" the debate because he was arguing against Hasan Piker, and Ethan's arguments are usually the more reasonable - but that's not the optics of the situation.

Hasan hasn't necessarily come out of this debate looking good (because the debate devolved into petty grievances), but his "crashout" is mostly just him yelling at Ethan because he thinks Ethan is racist, which is then bolstered by clips of Ethan yelling about "the fucking Arabs", and so stripped of context it looks like Hasan was justified. Meanwhile Ethan's got a pyrrhic victory because he's just come across as a lunatic who can't get over Hasan, which even long term H3 fans continued to notice

If Ethan had just drawn a line under this debate and decided he'd "won" so didn't need to discuss it further, I'd see the argument that it had been worthwhile, but he's just continued to crash out on Instagram stories and no doubt will be rehashing it in the months to come.

Worth noting he insisted in the debate that he'd never claimed Snark had called CPS on him.
