Coast to Coast AM - Kiwifarms Open Lines

I found a few good JC clips. Oscar Son of Satan is a self-proclaimed demon who would call in and taunt JC to debate him, but it never materialised beyond a brief confrontation. Ian Punnett had an Antichrist line and a caller named Les called in and claimed to have been offered a deal from The Devil to be the Antichrist but he rejected it, JC called in to confront him.

Whitley Strieber wrote a book called the Communion which is his first hand account when he was visited by aliens. These are my favorite interviews with Whitley Strieber, these interviews were with Art Bell on Dreamland and Dark Matter. The latter being the better one since this was after the South Park episode that made fun of him.

It is a good episode, Whitley gives greater detail in his experience with encountering aliens and the outcome from being abducted, he also mentions the movie that was made about his book, at some point he gets mad when he talks about the South Park guys and how he wanted to sue them but his lawyer told him they made too many changes to the episode for him to bring his case to court.

For context Whitley Strieber is the one who is credited with aliens anal probing their abductees in his book Communion that was turned into a movie with Christopher Walken playing Whitey Strieber.

Dreamland 11/19/1995 broadcast, Art Bell talks with Whitley Strieber about his book Communion.

Dark Matter 10/01/2013, Art Bell talks with Whitley Strieber about how it started and how its going.

I have never heard of Art Bell or Coast to Coast. I see there's a vault, any suggestions on topics to listen to? Should I listen chronologically?
Ghost to Ghost and Friday night open lines are great episodes it is what made me a fan.

If you are interested in EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) which is recording ghost voices, GIS (Ghost Investigator's Society) Barbara McBeath and Brandon Cook are great episodes. If you like the subject of exorcisms, the episodes with Father Malachi Martin.

Art Bell talks to ufologist Jim Dilettoso about the Men In Black. I have heard the Shadow People episodes were good, Harley "SwiftDeer" Reagan on 4/12/2001 and Dr. Morgan Spence 05/31/2001. Gabriel The Mercenary on 05/17/2002 is about a guy claiming to be a mercenary, its a ridiculous work of fiction but entertaining nevertheless.

Linda Moulton Howe is the one I was thinking of too. I thought she was interesting because she dedicated her life in researching and doing personal interviews with witnesses regarding UFOs, alien abductions, crop circles and cattle mutilations. Regardless of if the truth is out there, I admire her passion.

Última edición:
Streiber's story is still wild. I know "haha, anal probing is funny" but he talks about it like a serious assault and seems genuinely disturbed by it. Regardless of the truth, I think something untoward happened to his asshole.

I really enjoyed the GIS playing their EVPs, don't care if its fake it was really fun to listen to while working. Brendan was kind of a prick in a weird way. Didn't listen to the one with him and Jimmy Chunga.
My first exposure to Art was from GTA. Very funny parody.

He wrote a second book after Communion, that’s a sequel to it. The title of it is Transformation: The Breakthrough. I borrowed it from my public library, last year.
He mentioned what sounded like sleep walking a few times, out into surrounding forests of his house.

Even if you don’t believe him on the alien bits, pyschologically the man was going through something. He’s still making his way to going to the Contact In The Desert conventions, but I don’t know for how long. Life circumstances prevent me from going this year, but I would like to go next year. Hopefully he’ll still be there. He would be interesting to talk to.

This clip is from Art Bell's show Midnight In The Desert where he gets a call from somebody who said he once drove to his house, Art was understandably creeped out. There was a series of events at the time that caused Art to quit his radio show.

To summerise what the article said, Art's house was shot at while he was on the air, then again from a separate incident while he was outside. On another occasion he saw somebody looking around his house before they ran away, all of these incidents happened at night.

The final incident was when he received a call from a blocked number threatening to murder his family if he continues broadcasting. He announced he was going on a hiatus until the guy terrorising him was caught. The police closed the case, it was never solved.

In the past on Coast to Coast during open lines Art would get callers saying they went to his house. I read several stories over the years where people said they would go to his house, some saying they talked to him in person and that he was pleasant to talk to.

I imagine Art would be nice when he has strangers showing up to his house and not wanting to cause any conflict by offending them by telling them to leave.

The parasocial relationships radio personalities have with their audience are examples of the worst kind. Where you got hours dedicated to talking about anything to avoid silence, they often get real personal with their audience by talking about intimate details about their lives. So the audience might feel that when they meet them in person they are talking to a friend and not understanding that there are boundaries that need to be respected.

And we're back.

I was listening to an episode of Ghost to Ghost AM in which one of the callers had a story that was rather amusing.

Art Bell takes a call from a woman who worked in Germany in 1980 and lived in an apartment that was converted from an old SS barracks. She tells this story where she would have these sensual dreams involving a nazi pirate.

Ok real talk, I've tried to get into Coast to Coast several times now, but a lot of it has aged so poorly since the dawn of the internet. Like the average person has been exposed to so many elaborate hoaxes in 2025 that "Mel's Hole" or "I just broke out of Area 51" calls are pretty lame in terms of actually spooking someone listening late at night.

Could any old veterans of the show point me towards some segments that "hold up" in terms of wtf and actually being plausible?

I've noticed that too. There's a weird, sort of uncanny similarity between abductions done by aliens and ones done by the fair folk. Even some of the descriptions sound really grey-ish to me.
depends on the alien / trans dimensional being
Nords still might be cool and give you things in trade like buckwheat pancakes for life for use of your water.
Grays already made the deal with our leaders so don't expect anything.

I like the Dulce base caller if you have never listened to it or looked into anything relating to Dulce base I would take a peak: if its fiction its interesting fiction at least.

I like open lines, they're like listening to an /x/ thread.

One time me and my dad were stuck in traffic late at night in an unfamiliar town and so he tuned into coast to coast am. The caller was explaining that they could use mirrors like portals to travel to a different dimension and flight demons or something. He mentioned that consecrating the mirror was an important step. I asked my dad what consecrating something meant and he said it meant you urinated on it. To this day I don't know if he was messing with me or really thought that's what consecration meant

Open lines is the best. You would get mostly crazy people calling into the show while others are putting on an act like JC, he would often call early in the show or during open lines.

I like Ghost to Ghost, there are some good ghost stories, my favourite ghost stories are the emails that Art Bell would read on air, he only did that sometimes.

I thought the interviews with Whitley Strieber were good, Whitley and Art Bell have good chemistry. When Whitley talks about what he went through he always seems stressed which makes it feel more authentic.

The best way to experience Coast to Coast is listening at night, it really does set the mood.

I loved how both Carlin and Rogan were on guests on C2C as giddy fans of the show. The show made adolescence a little more magical. Listening now, most of the content feels like collaborative story telling. You can tell that Bell had a certain pace and variety to his show where he never really kept callers on the line that long and never went deep with them because at the end of the day it made sense for him to leave stories hanging so that they seemed more mysterious.

I recently I came across an episode where a lady very close to where I live called in talking about how her house is haunted. That was cool, except she's just ripping off the Ammityville Horror. A local Facebook group wasn't able to ID her. In retrospect I'm willing to be she might not have been local and just wanted an interesting setting for her story.

One of my favorite C2Cs is one that was themed about women and men differences and Art autistically got fixated on "why do women go to the bathroom together" and every woman that called in he was like "no no no that's not it, im certain there is a conspiracy here" its so funny.

Had no idea KF had a Coast to Coast thread. I've only just started listening to archives a few weeks ago. Have to say, modern schizos haven't got shit on boomers schizos. Any episode with Hoagland is pure gold. If anyone has any suggestions for some real Dale Gribble-type conspiracy shortwave shows or podcasts, I'm all ears.
