Nottinghamshire Police recognize "misogny" as a hate crime. - Offenders will be subject to "reeducation."

[
Very sadly, we live in a world where the reality is that women have to take extra measures such as carrying rape alarms, downloading protection apps for their phones, avoiding certain routes after certain times and look over their shoulder whilst walking home – all to avoid harassment or potential attack. The feeling of vulnerability is real for some.

The research completed last year on behalf of Action Aid regarding women experiencing harassment in UK cities made stark reading. The report stated that three quarters of UK women had experienced some form of violence or harassment in cities, with three in seven feeling at risk on city streets and a third feeling at risk when travelling on public transport*

Our own engagement work with the North Yorkshire Youth Commission has highlighted that fear of verbal abuse and sexual harassment is still very much on young women’s minds. Some of the young women who are working with us as part of the commission, were brave enough to share their first hand experiences of being harassed whilst on nights out.**

Yes, the police already have the relevant laws in place to arrest and prosecute perpetrators of harassment or assault, but by including misogyny as a characteristic of hate crime – it gives a message out to women that this type of behaviour is not to be dismissed or trivialised. That they can take confidence in the fact that they will be listened to and taken seriously by the police and that support and advice is available to them. There is something they can do to take back control and there are steps that can be taken to stop this from happening again to them, or to anyone else.

That’s why North Yorkshire Police are currently taking the steps to add misogyny into its hate crime policy. In the coming months we will be looking to educate our front line officers in the recognition of the offence and the support available for victims.

Our job is to keep the public of North Yorkshire safe and to ensure that the vulnerable are identified and protected. This move ensures that a clear message is given to those women who feel fear or intimidation, whatever the reason, that they can come forward and report with confidence – they will be listened to and taken seriously.

This is the second time I've seen something like this from Britain. Do the towns just arbitrarily decide what the laws are for violent offences over there or something? Like, the court gets the case and goes, "Oh, hey. This happened in North Yorkshire! Gotta roll up any sentence with a hate crime multiplier." Could South Yorkshire declare a dog barking at a woman to be a hate crime, in a bid to one up those Northern cunts?

Fucking shitshow regardless.

^All across the United Kingdom and France are small cuck towns which you can usually identify if either the town square has a parking lot where the church used to be, or said church is now a mosque.

This is going to open pandora's box if they put it in. How will they handle trans women? If they will consider anyone who claims to be a woman then it'll be abused to hell by trenders, but if they only consider some or none they better be ready for the screeching about how all cops are TERFs.

Now I don't like to point fingers at why women in towns are subject to harassment, but I'm fairly sure the towns are more, how do you say, 'Culturally diverse.'

I doubt it will be enforced against akbars and dindus.

I don't know, this makes sense to me kinda, just look at all the loveshies who talk about how much they hate women and want to hurt them. Then consider there are at least ten times as many guys who hate women and want to hurt them but actually go out and do it not post on the internet.
otoh it's easy to abuse this...
And of course Muslims won't ever get charged with it because it's their culture

Here's the thing- hurting people is already against the law. This is why hate crimes are so stupid. If a guy stabs a woman in the stomach, is it somehow worse if he calls her a stupid bitch as he does it? If a woman does the exact same assault on a man is it less bad because misandry isn't included in the law? If a woman stabs another woman and uses slurs do you charge her for internal misogyny?

TL;DR, hate crimes are 98% stupid, and 2% useless.

This hits the nail on the head for me. This is most likely going to create a law that's too broad, and assholes are going to abuse it. It's the use of such a broad, umbrella term like harassment that bothers me the most.

So if some woman cuts me off while I'm driving, and I call her a cunt as I pass by, could I be charged with a hate crime for that? Just seems to me if someone came across a woman in this hypothetical scenario who has a wild hair up her ass, she could cry misogyny, and if convicted in court, ruin this person's chance at finding a decent job because of false hate crime on his/her rap sheet.

I dont think you will find many women who object to this law on paper, but I feel a lot of women would consider it either ineffective in practice or overreaching in scope. Like neverendingmidi wrote, hurting people is already against the law, so it's kind of like the bathroom laws in that it doesnt really achieve anything other than a moral victory.

Sure, but if you're going to have any at all why not cover obvious ones. Hell make misandry and killing whitey ones too.
Or just get rid of them lol.

It could also be used the other way "But officer, how can I be a misogynist if I identify as a women? :tomgirl:".

Nah, it's a policy not a law. If they can't point to the specific part of the law which justifies the policy, then cases based on the policy will get dismissed because the legislation itself is not being amended.

The cops don't get to make up laws, the best they can do is "interpret them creatively" in order to snag people with silly charges that don't get prosecuted and further undermine confidence in the law, making it look like a weapon for special interest groups as opposed to a system of justice.

Rotherhams will still happen and nobody who is anybody will allow themselves to care. It's far easier to control/push around people who trust, or at least buy into, mainstream society and the system, who would care about being charged with "misogyny".

That's not to express any confidence that our politicians won't end up pinning a seven-year jail sentence on "swearing at a woman", but for the time being Yorkshire police can fuck off, they aren't judges or legislators.

Hate crime laws are bad enough as it is, predicated on some idea of "identity" or "perception"- well, what about complete assholes? I'm sure they don't choose to be the way they are, and I'm sure society has had a role in making them into ineffable shits. They are also subject to vastly disproportionate rates of assault and even murder, and are often thought to have been "asking for it"! Think of the dickheads! Somebody do something!
