The lefts opinion of Wikileaks makes less and less sense as time goes on.

During the election they pretended at first that the information was fake, albeit the MSM was smart enough to not directly say that because they know that nothing Wikileaks has ever put out has been dis-proven and anyone with two brain cells to rub together could see the DNC leaks were real. Instead they let a much larger number of smaller people lie on their behalf and don't do anything to correct them.

Now they've moved on to pretending that the information revealed through them is somehow "compromised" because they chose to release it in a manor that results in maximum exposure. It never occurs to them that the people leaking this information apparently can't trust anybody except Wikileaks to handle the information correctly.

And if the CIA info had been leaked directly to the major corporate media organizations or a bunch of left wing journalist and came out now and in the same format, would these people be any more accepting of the information ?

Fuck no. If the same information was released through a "trustworthy" source, they would just shift the blame onto the original leaker (and to a certain extent you can already see that happening).

Their cognitive dissonance is only going to get more and more obvious if they keep up this narrative.

Trying to call the society present in 1984 as anything other than fascist totalitarianism is just straight up ignorant seeing as the book practically hits you over the head with fascist imagery that Orwell basically lifted from Nazi Germany. Plus it should be obvious that it's not socialist given the extreme social classism that becomes more evident when Winston visits the poorer areas that the government is clearly ignoring.

It was a critique of totalitarianism with little regard for whether it was fascist or communist in nature.

Orwell was himself a socialist, but of the democratic socialist ilk.

You say zero self-awareness, I say projection.

It's like how so many big-name male feminists keep getting outed as sexual predators. They were attracted to feminism chiefly because calling men condescending, manipulative rapists jived with their personal experience.
A textbook case:

Note: Sweden, being SJW Central, is notorious for it's short sentences for sex crimes. The most frequent sentence for a convicted rapist is 2 years' inprisonment.

Oh, it's coming. One of the provisions in the bill is either total or partial defunding of Planned Parenthood.

Heads will roll.

That'll be pretty much FACT when most of the middle and lower class are kicked off of having healthcare, whatsoever. Unless you're rich, FUCK YOU - that's what I get from all of this... Being serious, this sure as fuck won't make America Great in any sense - just more violent / depressed / damn near unlivable - I'm already hearing people threatening to kill the likes of Paul Ryan and his ilk behind this, besides thew usual "Trump must go" fare...

There's some salt in the comments.
God I wonder how Trump supporters even manage to breathe, they ar clearly below 50 iq when they take trump seriously and defend his idiocy
Most of them are crusty old white guys, so they're probably on life support.
I can only imagine dumb ass trumpards clicking so fast
Some guy:I support Trump . and even I admit this is actually hilarious

Idiot guy:Not as hilarious as the clown you voted for.

Youtube comment s usually are salty, but there's something special when they involve Trump.

I doubt Obamacare would've lasted much longer in the form that it was anyway. Many providers were pulling out because they were seeing no increased profits, which is all they really care about being a listed company, so that eventually one provider was available in each state, and therefore they could dictate premiums again.

It'd be nice to have a real debate over Healthcare, but there is no likelyhood of that happening in this REEEEEE and RUSSIAN HACKING environment, political commentary at the moment is Dumbledores army versus Orange Voldemort. No one in power is interested in bi-partisan discussion. They just want donations rolling in and coverage.

Except that the means of production in 1984 are entirely state owned and state run, a condition that existed in no state we commonly refer to as fascist, however you care to define the term. Capitalists were certainly constrained in their use of and allocation of capital in fascist states in NS Germany and Mussolini's Italy (I'm not sure Franco's Spain even reached being an industrial society, but that might qualify as an exception.), but de jure property ownership remained in a large part in private hands. And this state ownership was the condition of both the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China.

"Fascist imagery, " also typically includes twaddle about a glorious past as well as some sort of racial superiority nonsense. I think from a purely political science perspective neither are necessary for a state to be fascist, but where fascism exists they seem to crop up as often as not. I don't recall anything in 1984 akin to the insane gibberish of something like The Myth of the Twentieth Century, certainly. (FWIW, even Goebbels thought it was unreadable nonsense.)

Plus it should be obvious that it's not socialist given the extreme social classism that becomes more evident when Winston visits the poorer areas that the government is clearly ignoring.

Also no different from how things operated in the USSR and I believe the PRC as well. The Proles were anything but ignored; the Thought Police were planted in their midst in great numbers.

Yeah, while Orwell fought with the socialists against the fascists in the Spanish civil war, and thought fascism was fucked, he thought communism was way worse. Both 1984 and Animal Farm were meant to point out the flaws in communism, and the fact that there was a clearly stratified social caste in 1984 was him pointing out that communism wasn't the class free utopia Leninists and Marxists believed in.

You know, one thing I love how a lot of clueless people think the world of 1984 was a satire, or a very massive exaggeration.
It wasn't. The conditions there fit the real life USSR to a T. I guess one difference was that it was even shittier economically and stagnant technologically because that world had no Capitalist West to import shit from and copy technology from.
Some people in the West are just so spoiled by the great conditions it built they just can't comprehend how different a system can be, and I don't even get how hard it could be, it's not like I even grew up under the communist system, I got all about it from my family (and that was the lite satellite state communism, mind you).

Última edición:
The thing is that 1984 was clearly made with the sole purpose of predicting trump rise to power, but since I am too lazy to read book and interpret them I will use Idiocracy as the source of my arguments.
