Clams cook down better and are less likely to go rubbery, oysters taste better and are safer raw, mussels are amazing when fully cooked.
Everyone describes scallop flavor as 'delicate'. Let me tell you what everyone means when calling food 'delicate' - it's bland. It's got the tofu problem both where it tastes of its sauce and little more, and you have to cook it in a very specific way with a narrow window for it to not develop a horrible texture on top of it.
