I guess I should respond to the sperging here:
What proof do you have that Japan looks down at you for liking anime? I have never seen ANYTHING ANYWHERE where anime is shamed upon in Japanese circles. Most of Japan is conservative and uncritical of even their worst aspects of their culture, unlike the west.
Who said anything about "everyone" in Japan "liking" anime there? That's a strawman, I just don't think they actively dislike it as you claimed. I don't believe it's abnormal for someone in Japan to watch anime, but you're free to cite your sources any time now.
Because anime is made by/for otaku, and otaku are hated in Japan for being weird creeps? Anime is actively disliked by anyone anywhere who's not a retarded otaku; it's childish tripe that losers pass off as really deep and smart and well-written to cope (which you can do with anything, by the way, as long as your standards are low enough and you're stupid enough).
I would rather you just call them rapist yellow monsters and get on with your day, it would be more honest
I'm saying the opposite, in fact.
Almost everyone plays video games. It's a bigger industry than film last I checked, but at any rate it's certainly a big one and many people play them. I've never met a single person who doesn't aside from the elderly, even my parents would occasionally play.
I don't. I played Mario Kart and Sonic a couple of summers ago for nostalgia, and I played an SRW six months ago, and that's it. Those were special exceptions; video games give me a headache and always leave me unsatisfied, so I avoid them.
But you were relatively recently, don't make me go through your post history to see when and what you watched in the last year.
I'll grant you that, but minds can change. When you've seen a certain amount of anime and see the same anime multiple times, the flaws become more and more difficult to ignore, and you realize it's really not that good.
For example, designing Transformers has to be difficult as fuck, it's like animating a puzzle. First of all you need to design it, which is tough enough because of the intricate movement and logistics involved in all the pieces that will be necessary to completely change its form, but then animating that has to be a nightmare.
Transforming robots never have accurately-animated transformations. Parts can disappear and resize in animation. I'll grant you that only Takara and the Chinese 3rd party guys are able to make sufficiently-complex robot toys with perfect transformation, but that's different from concept design, which is very easy for robots (the template and key features are there) and very difficult for spaceships (no pre-determined template and features). It's hard to make an original, eye-catching spaceship that's not boring and plain or junky and overdesigned.
Anime is basically just the Japanese word for animation and westerners use it to differentiate Japanese animation from others.
I'm pretty sure that they call western shows anime as well, but he wouldn't know.
I do know that. Most of the "anime" on Japanese TV channels are Western cartoons like Spongebob.
Not all anime is for pedophiles, and you watch/recently used to watch anime so even if you think it is then you're just telling on yourself.
Anime can have pedophilic dogwhistles even if the fans aren't always pedos. Null talks about how Grave of the Fireflies is a pedo movie because the little girl has a UTI and constantly has to pee, yet most people who watch it don't care about that. Many Gundam fans don't care about/actively dislike the numerous age gap relationships and stuff like Puru, the Kira/Flay sex scene, and the 00 bridge crew, yet there are enough who do enjoy that stuff and now the new stuff is lolicon garbage like G-Cucks, which has almost nothing to appeal to sci-fi fans. Gundam built a fanbase like that through those early dogwhistles, and now the chickens are coming home to roost. The stereotypical anime character style in general is a result of lolicon; it was developed for loli hentai in the late 70s to exaggerate making characters look as young as possible, since cartoon porn always exaggerates things. 70s/certain early 80s anime looks so different from all other anime, while many mid-80s anime characters wouldn't look out of place today, because mainstream anime was taken over by lolicons in the 80s and now all anime uses that lolicon art style. Urusei Yatsura was the first anime to use that artstyle, and Lum was called a loli when that came out. The idol and romance elements in Macross were pandering to the lolicon crowd; Minmay looks 6 years old and Hikaru looks 8. Even toku is tainted for me now since Kamen Rider Den-O had an episode where the monsters were leaking a clear white fluid and it ended up on a woman's neck; I don't need to see a very specific Japanese porn fetish in a children's superhero show.
Because he's probably a self-hating weeb and seems to be a liberal on top of it.
I am liberal, and I do hate myself for having ever been into anime and I always had guilt and shame as long as I liked anime, despite avoiding and ignoring the degenerate stuff. You should hate yourself and be ashamed if you're a weeb; that's your conscience speaking out trying to save you because you know it's wrong yet you can't or won't stop.
It's in the culture now in the same way as the "kawaii" culture is in japan, but you wouldn't shame me for liking any western animation. What western animation do you like?
Loli trash anime is degenerate and he's right to condemn it, but he downplays complaints about literal LGBT propaganda in western cartoons because he seems okay with it.
I'm not okay with that. Children's cartoons shouldn't have any romance at all, but Western animation isn't overrun with LGBT stuff like every anime nowadays uses the lolicon pedo art style. There's a reason online cartoon fans hate/ignore stuff actually for kids, like Teen Titans Go and modern Spongebob, while praising Steven Universe and modern She-Ra and Owl House made for 14-year-old Tumblrites to high heaven. Also, by the way, I would shame you for liking those kinds of cartoons (as well as anything else with a massively degen fanbase, like Friendship is Magic and Bluey).
What delineates porn and nuanced, reserved and respectful sexual themes to you? How much skin can you show? Whats the limit for violence? Every adult movie has to have a fucking sex scene now but I wouldn't call the Minecraft movie porn because it's Hollywood
@Space Police Before I disagreed with you, but now I realize how wrong I was. In fact, I would actually extend that to any anthropomorphic character ever made. Even if it looks like Warner Bros and not furry porn, it's still clearly pornographic and appeals to furries. Anything anthro made after the internet should be banned
HANG ZOOTOPIA FANS
Ideally there would be no sexual content at all. People don't think superhero comic geeks are weird coomers like weebs because the characters are mostly adults of some definition and clearly look like it. On top of that, the art style is realistic, and realistically-drawn humans are not necessarily sexual; it's not a particular fetish style. Same goes for live action movies and anthro characters in general.
He makes shit up, and convienently forgets that all anime isn't moe high school creep shit for weird adults, but there's shonen and pokemon and magical girl stuff, that has child fans.
That's not true of anime either, both anime and western animation are diverse enough that you can avoid all that shit. I do think degenerate shit is more common in anime though.
Every anime and every anime genre has moe pedo stuff due to the artstyle alone. Dragon Ball has Bulma constantly being harassed by Roshi. Naruto has that pink haired girl and sexy no jutsu, and One Piece and MHA have tons of weird sexual stuff. All the Baki characters have baby faces on the muscular bodies and homosexual rape jokes. Pokemon has has Misty designed as "eye candy" for creepy men. Every single magical girl show that's not Sally the Witch is moe creep stuff; 50% of the Precure fanbase is grown men.

This argument has gone on and on and is getting really autistic, so I'll just say that you need to look at this objectively and dispassionately. Most of your arguments are either personal attacks, whataboutism, or false equivalencies because you know deep down I'm right, so you can't do anything but attack me, throw smoke bombs to distract me, and rationalize rationalize rationalize. Ignorance is bliss, and these facts can be uncomfortable, but it's always better to be informed, rational, and knowledgable than ignorant.
