Hardly anybody seems to be discussing the new Daredevil series. The first season way back when was good. It had a slow but clear decline from then on imo. I'm taking it from your comment above that the latest season isn't so great? I haven't bothered to watch any of it out of a general lack of trust in Current Year writers and because I heard Karen Page (one of my favourite characters) was written out of it as well as Foggy.

So where does the new season rate? Really bad? Depressingly mediocre? Okay?

And is there still any cross over with the other members of its universe? I was the person who actually liked Iron Fist S1. I'm guessing Danny Rand hasn't and wont show up? Not Cage or Jessica Jones, et al.
It's been bouncing between 'okay' and 'depressingly mediocre'.

A big problem is that a lot of what we're seeing this season is from an aborted version of the show. Originally, Disney wanted to eat their cake and have it, too, with Born Again. Which is to say, they wanted to keep the most popular stuff of the Netflix DD series (Kingpin, Daredevil, and Punisher) but divorce it from most of the Netflix continuity (originally, both Karen Page and Foggy died off screen before the season started) and make it its own thing set in the MCU. Supposedly, nobody was happy with how that was turning out (the story goes that both Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio approached Disney executives with their misgivings on how it was shaping up), so Disney fired the original creative staff and brought in new people associated with the original Netflix Marvel shows.

Disney didn't want that original version going to waste, as they completed about 6 - 8 episodes, so instead they had the new creative staff do reshoots and insert new material.

I don't see why they couldn't bring in wider elements of the Netflix Daredevil into the MCU. It's not like Deborah Ann Woll or Elden Henson have already been cast in other roles in any MCU properties. And Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Danny Rand have never appeared in the MCU either. Storywise I don't see any reason bringing in the Charlie Cox Daredevil means ditching those. But perhaps it's a cost or licencing or Diversity issue?

It's amazing to me how they don't sort these issues out and get finished scripts before they actually start shooting. It's absurd.

The current MCU no like pretty women, that is why.

Foggy and Karen are returning next season, with Karen apparently popping up in the last two episodes of this season (which were done by the new creative staff). In the heavily reshot first episode of Born Again, they drop a reference to Jessica Jones. So, I'm guessing at least some version of all the Netflix continuity is going be used going forward. Though, there's been a long standing rumor that Disney wants to recast Iron Fist and Luke Cage.

What do you tell an invisible woman with two black eyes?

Nothing, you've already told her twice.
there's probably some joke about him keeping her bruised so he can spot her even when she's invisible from the discolorations but I can't quite mash it into shape

So Foggy is not dead after all. Figures!

Of all the problems with Iron Fist I find the casting of Finn Jones the least of them. Although I recall certain websites like AV Club going into meltdown over a White dude being a Kung Fu master. I've no real view on the actor for Luke Cage as it was hard to tell if he could act or not under the dreadful writing. TBH, I find the whole Blaxploitation thing his character is immersed in doesn't really work for me as a European. Not even sure how well it works for many Americans anymore...

Watch them make both Karen and Foggy absolute gender activist faggots now.

Episode 5 was some good shit. I want tons more of that. Except for the excessive Ms. Marvel plugging.
Ironically, that episode supposedly had the least amount of reshoots and newly added material. Which gives us some idea of what the original vision of Born Again would've been: episodic and lots of MCU tie-ins.

Personally, I wouldn't mind a more episodic MCU show, something like those CW DC shows (just less awful). But a continuation of Netflix DD probably wasn't the right vehicle for it.

I'd say it's good, better than most if not all the recent Marvel output.

But it's not as good as old DD.

And more than that, it doesn't feel the same. It'd be one thing if it did but was just lower quality; no, it feels different. And it's not the higher budget and the CGI and shit. I don't know how to explain it.

Foggy could be back through flashbacks, or they could be going for that storyline where he's killed but in truth he survives his apparent death, is kept hidden in secret, and I think it happens against his will (I haven't actually read it).

For Luke and Danny, the actors have been increasingly making noise, so they'll probably be back too.

I just wish Brett, Jessica, and Marcy (maybe even Hogarth), were in DD right now rather than the chink cop, the private investigator, and Matt's new law firm partner.

Since I'm talking about it, here's DD's 'new' suit for season two:

Looks like his current Born Again suit but spray-painted black, though it finally has the double-Ds on it, at least.

No, she can stay gone forever, she was the single worst part of the entire Netflix Defenders shit.

She let David Tennant out of his little prison after Jessica caught him, if there were any justice in the series Tennant would have used his mind control powers on her and told her to slit her own throat.

I remember yelling at my TV, "what the fuck does this have to do with anything!?" during Hogarth's "i'm gay and sad" plot in S2 of Jessica Jones. I never bothered to watch S3 due to how bad that second season was. I'm still baffled they managed to make a show about an alcoholic private detective superhero so goddamn boring.

Yeah sure but I'd take her dyke cancer ass over this snake-faced nigger, a character that feels like she belongs to a CW show, and is from the fucking Waid run, at that.

As if everything in the netflix verse wasn't CW tier except for season 1 and the first half of season 2 of Daredevil.
