GTA San Andreas release 20 years ago today. - Your knee popped when you got out of your chair didnt it?

Vividly remember finally getting my hands on this game one summer, way too young to be playing it of course and sinking a whole weekend into it just running around the sandbox doing whatever. Aesthetics were on point, the heat haze and orange filter, cool cars, the music selection was killer. Story itself was nothing special, but some of the side characters were legendarily funny and quotable to this day.

Even past the subjective stuff, the mission design was at its peak, only the cracks of the overly scripted mission structure starting to show on a handful of missions, of course being exacerbated in later games. But yeah, should replay this soon, did it a few years ago and pulled an all nighter to finish it, still had a blast.

The password is this site's domain name.
I admit, I'm a bit sick rn so maybe I'm being more retarded than usual, but I have tried every variation of said domain name (around 7 of them, with capitalising of words. Hell, even CWCki). Unless the fever is going to my head, or you meant the passwords of the other sites linked, I can't seem to get the right password.

I'd rather DM about this to keep it a password (& hide my retard moment), but I can't. Please just DM me the password so I can just copy-paste it.

Played it not too long ago on pcsx2 and had a blast, the game still holds up to this day. The frustrations with the more difficult parts can be mitigated by savescumming in the emulator

Admission time, I actually never finished this one. Oh believe me, I tried multiple times on my old PS2, but I just got tired out by the time the country chapter rolls around. San Fierro just did not interest me enough to keep going, there really is too much fapping about in this game. Worse yet, there is just too much side activities for my taste with little to no payoff. What was the point of the whole gang war mechanic if you get kicked out of Los Santos 1/3rd of a way thru? Same thing with your girlfriend there. They should have focused on less content but polished what's there instead of throwing the whole kitchen sink at the player, but then again maybe that's why people like this game. I'm more of a Vice City kind of guy.
The Sims pastiche and world saturation are the weakest aspects of SA. Los Santos and, to an extent, Las Venturas, are relatively packed with stuff. The countryside, desert and San Fierro are barren. I understand the limitations of the PS2, still something to keep in mind when saying best game 10/10. My best memories of playing this game as a kid were related to just messing around in the world sandbox, finding interesting spots or ways to accomplish missions. If there were more exploration related goodies, it would have been even more fun. If Postal 2 can do it, R* can too.

The countryside was interesting, but there was just nothing to do in it. I could run around it for hours, but there is only so much of it that I can take, and the mission arch there takes way too long too. Not even Catalina can alleviate the boredom past a certain point. San Fierro was also boring for how little I played it, wasn't worth getting to Las Venturas and the desert.
Still, I wonder how these two cities would have translated into GTA5. Good on them to focus on one good city, but still.

I feel like GTA:SA could have been even better if it had waited a few months to launch. There are hints of extra content that was considered in the other cities and you can tell that the gang territories at the end of the main story are there to pad the lenght. Sadly I suspect some of the things that they planned but then cut were not because of time but because of the PS2 being unable to cope with any more stuff.

I also have to say it is probably the last good release by Rockstar when it comes to the technical aspects of porting. GTA IV was infamous for how absolutely dogshit it was on PC to the point even today it won't run correctly, and GTA V is still laggy and slow to load in many places. In a way V is worse because with IV they were new to the engine so you could at least make a argument but with V? Nah, they just didn't put the effort. Are the Red Dead games also ass on PC? Never played them.

Speaking of their engine I gotta say I never like their Euphoria physics. It just feels too floaty and loose. Hard to describe, but the cars in V feel like the control a bit like ass compared to GTA:SA and the crash physics that throw NPCs around feel like everyone weighs just 20 kilos and is made of foam.

Your last post ever was shitting on the greatest game of all time. Truly a joyless life, that must be why you blew your own head off.
How do you think I felt when I found out about that, I went into his profile cause I saw the red stripe and wanted to find out why. I found out I got the honor of the cunts last post. Sickening.

literally one of the most nostalgic things for me is looking up "gta sa mission walkthrough" back in 2010 ish
whenever i think of san andreas i need to shout out this piece of shit review that killed this guy's channel (he deleted all his content soon after it blew up). this is the video that's important to me because i used to be a little contrarian that thought vice city was better until i listened to this review, heard my own opinions mirrored back me and realized i was being fucking gay

The countryside is only about nine missions

For me San Fierro is the peak of the game because of the cool missions, the city design being like a playground and the place it is in the storyline as a rebound from the Badlands chapter

It sure don't feel like it. They just drag on and on, not to mention how far each mission is from one another with absolutely nothing interesting inbetween(like in real life, I guess). I remember I lost my car once and had to swim in the river all the way to the mission marker, my CJ lost so much weight that he became super skinny by the end.

That's when I usually quit the game. Maybe I should give it a try, always wanted to see if the desert and vegas missions are any good.

San Andreas is a fun game, great music, memorable missions. I still prefer vice city though.
That's where I'm at. I love SA, but VC is my all time favorite game just because it took me right back to my youth in Florida in the 80s. It was like being in an episode of Miami Vice. I can't describe what it was like being immersed in that setting. The early 90s were special in their own way, but for me the South Central LA world was just something I saw in videos on MTV.

That said, SA had far more options and a larger game map to get into and the different areas all had their own character. Los Santos, Las Venturas, and San Fierro all were so different from each other. And there was far more to do with CJ, from his clothes, hair, and tats, to how much he weighed or how muscular he was, to how he modified his low rider to the side games. If VC had the same level of stuff to do as SA did and the size of the map (yes, I know that it really wasn't that large in reality and relied on a lot of tricks to make it seem larger than it was), it would easily have been the #1 GTA game of all time.

The biggest criticism I have for SA is it didn't really seem to know what game it wanted to be. Was it a game version of Boyz N The Hood? X-Files? Casino? It was like it just couldn't decide what it wanted to be at times. And it was the gang with morals. CJ and the rest of GSF were truly bad guys...except they didn't deal drugs. That was one area where the Scarface: The World Is Yours game didn't shy from that GTA seems to just barely touch (except for Tommy Vercetti in VC who sells drugs from an ice cream van and who smuggles drugs in boats and the entire plot relies on Tommy getting the money and drugs he lost at the beginning). Even if CJ saw Bear waste away from drug use and the gang war in his 'hood, he should have also seen the sheer amount of money he could make from pushing that stuff and sold it as well.

In any event, I loved SA.

Disagree. The best GTA ever made is Vice City. San Andreas was ok. I have a lot more memories from them than I do from GTA 5 or even 4.

But these days I have really bad nigger fatigue, so I find it hard to get back into the nigger simulator that is GTA SA.
