Did mario steal the muppet song? - I can't help but hear an extreme similiarity

they pass better than Birdo at least

Those sound nothing like each other. However, I know that Mario did completely ripoff Soulja Boy:
Go ahead and tell me niggertendo didn't. I'll wait. :smug:

buddy, music steals from music all the time.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=X4bgXH3sJ2Qhttps://youtube.com/watch?v=5wFRIWFraWQWe've only got so many notes, in so many ear-pleasong assortments. We're bound to steal at some point.

Another Touhou one: There some similarity between Fate of 60 Years and Pigs (Three Different Ones) by Pink Floyd.

I don't think it's a rip off because most of the Pigs song is definitely different. But I do wonder if it was an inspiration. Could also just be a coincidence. Like you said, there's only so many ways to put sounds together.

It gets even funnier here because people also point out frequently the mario world stage theme is just a slightly altered cover version of this song.

A lot of vidya composers are kind of music nerds or normal musicians so it makes sense these kinds of things happen. Sometimes you end up with cases like the sonic games where they're just instrumental versions of songs that either have yet to come out or already were out. This happened wth those games up until the adventure titles, where the backing music for one stage is literally just the instrumental track of this song.

I don't see them doing anything to get sued back as far as copyright is concerned.
the thiefs are the most litigous. look at games workshop; they build the preeminent wargaming company by shameleslly ripping off tolkein, heavy metal, starship troopers ( the book), and a hundred other ips and they would sue your grandmother for milk money if they thought they could get away with it

I think the weirdest trivia I found out was that the late 80s-early 90s gi joe stuff design wise took heavy inspiration from warhammer 40k stuff from the time. It only directly talked about the vehicles in the trivia I saw but I can kinda see it in a lot more than just those and it all started kinda clicking together.

Nintendo is very protective of their intellectual property. They will go after anyone.
