Does he actually have ADHD? If you don't have it, Adderall is like meth. If you do have it, it can slow you way the fuck down. Mixing it with SSRIs can sometimes be counterproductive, but if one does is high enough it doesn't really matter. If you actually have ADHD it can clear your mind, give you motivation to do shit and make you a healthier and more productive person. If you abuse it, you're basically doing cocaine.

A lot of people are skeptical of SSRIs and the truth isn't exactly flattering either: they actually do work miracles for some people, but they're very inconsistent for others and sometimes counter productive. The initial reasoning behind them turned out to be wrong, and the fact that they're actually effective for some people turned out to be because of some kind of side effect they don't understand very well. That means inevitably, they'll be replaced by a far more effective treatment that focuses on whatever makes them work. Same story with other medications of the past.

I had a whole rant lined up about Benzedrine and how writers and musicians have infamously abused it and got all fucked up on it, and then halfway through I realized I'm an idiot and "benzos" means Benzodiazepine. Worse yet, Adderall and Benzedrine are basically the same thing from what brief research I've done. So I feel silly.

Adderall is an upper, but Benzodiazepine is a downer. They're to do completely opposite things so I'm not sure why he's taking both unless his doctors are confused or he's getting high. Of course, if he actually has ADHD, they're both downers. When you're on ADHD practically every drug is a downer. So I have no fucking clue what the game plan is for him with that. Maybe the Adderall needs a "boost"? Wouldn't you try slightly lowering the dosage of the SSRIs first? Idk, I'm just spitballing. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone taking Benzos who wasn't abusing them unless they had something seriously bad like bipolar or schizo.
