Meanwhile, Trish has finally returned to that new drake reference, and it's all Raven's fault that the northern subspecies even existed in the first place. If I recall, she was making northern drakes before Raven entered the picture, so this is more Trish historical revisionism. The first explictly northern she made was for Courierserg in 2018, and surprisingly that guy still uses the OC as of 2024. There were a couple others as well prior to Raven's drake, including her former bestie Oni and her ex Daka.

Those are all the northerns pre-dating Eclipse as far as I can tell.

Even going off of Raven's description of waiting "months", this still places Eclipse in 2019, and five were made the year prior.

The font choice is a bitch to make out but that's a 2019 at the bottom of the reference.

Except moving muscles will generate warmth, meaning insulating fur would be beneficial and make sense. Also I’m pretty sure these things have like, houses.

Logically, with the amount of muscles they have, overheating would actually be a risk for the tropical species since they’d need to constantly cool down after moving too much, and tropical environments aren’t good for that. Also the fur/feather filament/wing stuff makes even less sense now.

If her dragon species is supposed to be ectothermic, they’d probably die from flying too high and encountering moisture and windchill, making them too slow to move their wings and they’d fall. Majestic.

There's got to be some comment on narcissism to be made on the fact that she included Arthras as a "her-coded" character, and that happens to be the same character she turned into an anthro wolf to fuck the brains out of her fox-sona on a regular basis.

The updated drake reference going into her art book is just as expected. The hair, ear, and horn angles on the one on the left look terrible for something she intends to publish. I'd expect the drakes to get the most effort of everything, but I guess not.

lol Trish learn comparative anatomy better. I love that if it’s not on Wikipedia or the first two pages of google images, then it doesn’t exist to Trish.

I can tell Trish has never actually perused the specbio community, based on how she interprets “being creative while allowing plausibility for alien life to manifest” as some kind of fantasy-esque approach that doesn’t require researching and is “so easy” compared to what she’s doing.

Every specbio artist I’ve seen that has taken incredibly creative routes does all sorts of homework to make things biologically make sense despite being so outlandish, leaps and bounds more so than what Trish is up to. There’s nothing “easy” or “I made it up” about it. What makes her think that specbio people don’t base their “made-up”, no direct real world equivalent in fact? What she’s describing doing with her “obsessing” over hard facts and such is par for the course with specbio artists. Some artists I’ve come across even do scientific diagrams and illustrations professionally. The difference between them and Trish, is their species actually read as plausible, well-researched speculative aliens versus standard anthros that she retroactively decided to “alien-ify” in the most shallow of senses, while changing virtually nothing about their generic furry appearance.
