Dan really is a grifter, and not even a smart/good one. Imagine if one of the guys responsible for telegram started to blackmail users with content that should be supposedly unavailable, that would instantly destroy any reputation the app has. He is really risking throwing redact under the bus just to score some points with dgg? The guy is honestly retarded and anyone with an ounce of common sense would never use redact again for two reasons:
1- The owner of the platform is openly using personal data to attack other people, also known as exactly the kind of thing his platform works AGAINST, so Dan is clearly not in tune with his platform values.
2- With the above in mind, it becomes very possible that he might not be above using his own platform to extract info about whoever he wants, which is a HUGE red flag to anyone who is privacy minded, even if just a possibility.
3- Redact is not openly auditable or open source, so we basically have to rely on their word that they do not keep any information about the users (yeah, trust Dan "Imma dox you" Saltman words, btw)
If you actually care about your privacy you probably already made up your mind about redact being a reliable software for dealing with sensitive information, and if you haven't, please do not trust redact. No need to take my word for it, just look at the actions of the owner (shout out dan for making it easy).
By the way, reading through the [privacy page of redact.dev] [a1] (also local archive attached) something caught my eye:
The highlighted "Services" is thus defined as all the products and services redact provides, including obviously the main application
So they do not explicitly deny that the application may collect information about whatever you do in it.
By the way, you might have noticed that the archive of the privacy page of redact is on ghost archive, and that's because the [URL is excluded from wayback machine], so take that as you will (imagine a giant red flag).
So yeah, do not trust Dan Saltman or the products he owns with your private data.

There's a lot of statutory exclusions when it comes to data collection - just because you have a broad ToS doesn't mean laws aren't being breached. The owner using the data for extortion and blackmail (and witness intimidation to cover for a friend) certainly falls outside. Dan had best be careful lest he serves more time than Epstiny.

I was going to mention that we don't know if JSTLK actually used Redact to delete his logs or just asked the guy to delete them, but it doesn't matter either way. Redact used to specifically mention RustleLogs as one of their services:

I think another point to this is that Dan is a loser and DGG makes him feel important. He is more worried about losing that feeling than losing a friend.

The fact he still has an audience just shows how much of a cult DGG is.
Everything about Destiny—his values, belief systems and "principle"— is a facade. Throughout the course of his Internet career Destination has tried to present himself as someone of good principle and integrity— that's how he secured the trust of Melina, Pixie, and Chaery just to later wrong them. None of his positions are based on conviction and he will even defend genocide to spite a Turkish streamer. That whole "redpill arc" defending women from manosphere incels? a charade.
Honestly, every DNC fag that willfully associates or associated with him needs to be scolded to the same extent as those found on Epstein's flight log.

Whose to say what Dan's pet issue is going to be tomorrow? If you've used Redact and have some spicy language about Jewish people or people named Steven Bonnell in your history could you trust that Dan wouldn't report you to the government or contact your workplace? No, you cannot trust that he wouldn't because he's already done these things.
He soys out about people saying he's trying to do "narrative control" and thinks people are weaponizing psych terms against him. "If I say like..this person has huge issues relating to, we'll say their credibility.."
The guy who loves psychoanalyzing people only ever has a problem with psych terms when they're tossed his way. He even had to catch himself in the last part by inserting "credibility" because you better believe he wanted to call these women mentally ill BPD thots.
Dan's defense of Destiny seems very personal, and not just in a good friend type of way. It's made me rethink a few notions I might have had about him
People orbit Destiny because they have something to gain, usually money or fame. Destiny isn't appealing on an interpersonal level, he's only rhetorically skilled in a confrontational way, he's a terrible conversationalist as evidenced by his podcasts, the fucker was so unbearable to talk to that Nick Mullen literally retired right after one chat with him, he doesn't even bother to engage with Dan half the time on the podcast they both host. We should ask ourselves what Dan gains from his associations with Destiny? Two things come to mind:
DGG has served as a safe haven for possibly the largest amount of pedo apologists per capita on the internet (Vaush, Mr.Girl, Destiny, Lav, Zherka,Bombjin, Tyson, Synth,etc.) This is the target audience for Dan's Redact service
DGG has also served as a shelter for vulnerable lonely autistic minors (Mr.Mouton,Baby Miku,Vaush (likely minor when they first talked based on ages stated here), Unnamed 15 year old fan, his own son), Dan's connection to DGG means he has access to a large community that has no issues with adults chatting with minors, something he wouldn't have if he was just the semi-retired family man he claims to be and stopped associating with DGG.
I have to wonder if Dan's entire crusade to get Destiny unbanned from Twitch is self serving, and he is motivated by regaining access to the younger twitch audience
