Most autistic thing you've purchased lately - c'mon feel the cringe

Cat whisker holder. Not this exact color, though.

a piece of trinitite
I didn't notice until after I got it home, but on the back was a little "MADE IN USA" sticker which I find really, really, funny.because it's true
Have you tested it for radioactivity? It's probably only a teensy bit but I wonder if it's still measurable.

I don't have any functional geiger counters to check
I have an old Civil Defense yellow pen-sized guy somewhere in storage but I don't know if that ever worked to begin with

An egg cooker. I've given up on them ages ago because I simply did not have the time or patience to sit by the pot and keep watch to make sure they don't explode (hardboiled) or end up too hard (softboiled). Now on Sundays I hardboil a batch of 10, and a pair makes it into my lunch from Monday til Friday. One the weekdays I now spoil myself with a "childhood breakfast" reminiscent of winter holidays spent in Austria ~25 years ago, emulating a fraction of what our hostess would serve us - orange juice, two softboiled eggs with a pinch of salt, and a freshly baked, crispy, buttered bread roll. Then I put on a random episode of a 90s cartoon.

I bought this ceiling star projector for my bedroom a little while ago, as a little Christmas gift for myself. Anything related to stars gives me comfort, sometimes even I'll shut the lights off and stare off into the ceiling and watch as the stars go by to let myself feel at ease.

Hyper specific USB cables e.g. 6 inch with USB-A on one end and USB-B at a 90 degree angle on the other for getting the cabling on my astrophotography rig perfect. I'm hoping this cuts down on the weight a little bit. Almost every single standard of USB connector is on this rig. Its a spaghetti mess of cabling currently.

Some specific camera/astronomy specific bolts for bolting all sorts of equipment to a dovetail. My astrophotography setup cant point in all directions as the camera needs to move forward half an inch to clear the star tracker. Once I get this dovetail setup I can scootch the camera forward and get more exposures of the orion nebula. Getting almost 10 minute exposures reliably with my equipment now.

A gift for a friend of mine; she was Rei for Halloween in 2023 (The outfit left little to the imagination 😐)

Which one did you get? I just got the Govee one and I’ve been meaning to post about it.

I’ve kept mine on every night to fall asleep to and it definitely helps the Xanax work better.

Additional thread tax - renewed my 12 month Usenet subscription for $40. Best goddamn value around.

Don't remember what brand exactly, but appearance-wise it's a little sitting astronaut that projects a nebula and stars out of his visor. He's very neat. :)

I bought a mini synth. Specifically the Behringer Pro VS Mini Hybrid synthesizer. Have I ever played any kind of keyed instrument? No. Am I gonna fuck around and have fun though with this 80s sounding bullshittery? Absolutely. It seems like a fun instrument to add to my skills and ever broadening hobby list, so I said fuck it, we ball.

A handful of vintage sci fi novels from an op shop, as well as a couple of 80s horror pulps. I'm really enjoying all the trash reading I've been doing lately.

I’ve gone ahead and somehow lost my weed vape despite the fact that it never leaves the house. I’ve spent a good solid week on and off trying to find it, but I’ve given up and gone with one of these…

It’s way better than the Xmax V3 Pro that I lost. Huge upgrade for not much more than what the old one cost.
