This may be overthinking this, but I think that people, generally, try to make it known publicly that they aren't associated with him anymore, and they were wrong about him, etc. especially when it's someone who has simped a lot for him, and that SpaceGhost girl used to do it very often (every week) until I logged her in the thread.
