Aubrey Plaza's Husband Jeff Baena Dead At 47

Article / Archive

Filmmaker Jeff Baena -- best known for directing films like "Life After Beth" and "The Little Hours," and the husband of Aubrey Plaza, has died ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... police and fire responded to a Los Angeles-area home Friday around 10:30 AM for a death investigation ... after an assistant discovered him dead.

Baena was pronounced dead at the scene ... law enforcement says he died by suicide.

After getting his film degree at New York University, Jeff moved to LA to launch his movie career, initially landing lower-level jobs with famous directors such as Robert Zemeckis and David O. Russell.

It was his work with Russell that put him on the map ... the two collaborated on four screenplays -- including "I Heart Huckabees," starring Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin.

Around this time, Baena began focusing on directing his own movies, such as his first feature, the 2014 horror-comedy, "Life After Beth," starring John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon and Aubrey Plaza.

Baena also directed the 2016 flick, "Joshy," and 2017's "The Little Hours," as well as 2020's "Horse Girl."

In 2021, Aubrey revealed she and Jeff had tied the knot in an Instagram post after about a decade of dating -- as you know, her career kicked off when she starred in the show "Parks and Rec" in 2009 ... and has gone on to appear in projects like "Emily The Criminal" and "The White Lotus."

She also gushed over their wedding while appearing on Drew Barrymore's talk show back in 2021 ... explaining what is was like to be married to someone you work with as well.

We've reached out to Aubrey's reps ... so far, no word back.

Baena was 47.

RIP

If they find him dead from a heart attack or an embolism or something then RIP. If they find he OD-ed on fent laced whatever the fuck, then good riddance.

>all these simps over a shitskin
I can’t imagine what it is like to have to hide your relationship with a spouse in order to preserve their career because it is conditional on lizard-brained moids trying to “fix you.” That guy was a cuck even if she never had anyone else inside her.

May he rest in peace and may she heal swiftly with her family.

I am not familiar with either of them, but death of your loved one is always a heartbreaking experience one should never wish upon anyone.

Gordon Ramsay’s wife had a kid at 50 somehow.
There’s a lot more evidence that it’s really just maternal obesity and maternal diabetes combined with anti-depressants. If you are mildly out of a shape then you can still have a non-tard baby at 50.

The entire issue has some gay gender war shit, but it might unironically be unhealthy women having kids at advanced ages. I don’t entirely blame women for that, but more society for saying “you can totally give birth at 40 after becoming a pill addict to manage the stress of your job while drinking to the point that your non-alcoholic fatty liver is becoming alcoholic fatty liver, have another Diet Coke boss bitch queen”.

What a bummer if it was a suicide. I know a guy whose partner killed themselves while they were together and he still to this day isn't completely right, and that was nine years ago now. He completely stopped dating and blames himself for it, even though she was a bit of an unhinged bipolar bitch to begin with.

You think you can fix her? Good luck- looks like "fixing" her couldn't fix this dumb shmuck.

All the wealth and a hot wife everyone is drooling over and an "assistant" to find your corpse and you couldn't just go load up on ketamine and take a vacation in Bali or something? What a piece of fucking shit.

As someone who has lost loved ones on important dates, yes it colors those dates and makes things like holidays a bit harder to get through, personally. Having to start every new year from now on remembering the anniversary your husband ack’ed himself as the first big event will not be fun, even if logically the date shouldn’t really matter that much. It just adds extra suck on the shit cake.
My father died on Valentine's Day.
It was never my favorite holiday, and his death just added to that feeling.

My mom died on Mother’s Day, and the last day she was able to eat anything happened to be my birthday. Suffice it to say both events are not really ones I celebrate much anymore which makes it fucking awkward ever since dad remarried.

Besides that though, the response to the news has been typical. His Wikipedia and IMDB are being vandalized with jokes, twitter is full of thirst, Selma Blair is getting called names for ‘virtue signaling‘ by sending condolences through social media, and everyone is tossing out hotline numbers because I’m sure no one knew about them before now. Personally I would kinda just retire from public life knowing everyone is rubbernecking your tragedy but I guess that’s why I never sought a career in public life.

I hope your next birthday is a happy one

Aubrey Plaza is a "children are gross" millenial woman. I remember seeing an interview she did where she stated the only way she could be nice to kids in movies she is in is to pretend they are dogs. She likely cheated on/cucked him.
I saw a quote from her in Time Magazine in which she gave off “not like other girls” vibes, so I’m not surprised she’s a bit of a snowflake.

Still sad that her husband died.

The Ramseys have six kids (a seventh died shortly after birth) including twins. They're just an extraordinarily fertile couple who loves kids. The kids seem to have their heads screwed on right as well, no scandals or anything. He plays an asshole on TV, but probably is a great Dad.
