2024 Syrian opposition offensives - The first Syrian rebel offensive against Government forces since March 2020

Syrian Druze don't exist in one contiguous area, and an independent state in the Jabal (which has a lot of Christians and Sunnis anyways) would be tiny and have literally nothing:

The Christians and Assyrians in the Middle East have been under siege for centuries and subjected to horrible crimes, and the worst part is no major player cares about them.

So now that the war is over, they'll all be going back right?
Lol. Lmao even

Apparently Assad, just..gave up.

He refused Iranian aid, ignored advice that HTs was planning something.

He was asked to open up another front against Israel and refused and basically just was placing all his eggs in the normalize ties with the gulf states basket.

Assad literally just gave up. Apparently.

Decided to throw in the towel when the pressure was on.
(not sure if someone else said this already, but TL;DR)

If I'm not mistaken, Bashar Al-Assad's staying power depended on Putin's support. Admittedly I don't know that much about the specifics of what happened during his rule beyond the knowledge of the typical layman who pays attention to the news, but from what I could tell Assad didn't command the respect dictators like Gaddafi cultivated.

I've heard many things about Gaddafi; NATO claims he was a military dictator that pretended to be a socialist that had revolutionary councils running the country, but that he would just overrule them and imprison dissenters if he didn't agree with them. Supporters of Gaddafi claimed Gaddafi was the reason the quality of life was so high, and the real reason NATO overthrew him was to stop Libya from using Gold Bars as the new Libyan Dinar. I must admit I'm partial to the latter view, as when you see photos of lesser-know Libyan cities like Sabha, they are from Gaddafi's rule. While it's possible Gaddafi sponsored terrorism, you can't convince me the civil war that's currently ravaging the country is better than the stability Gaddafi had to offer. I doubt Hillary Clinton and Dubya would want to experience the current life of Libyans over life during the Ghaddafi years if they were forced to wear their shoes.

Assad thought he could imprison and use chemical weapons with impunity because he was dictator, whereas smarter dictators know that if they want to keep power, they need the support of the powerful in the country. He dipped out because the only Syrian who genuinely supported Bashar Al-Assad, was Bashar Al-Assad himself. The prime minister needed no arm twisting to do whatever the rebels wanted him to do when Assad fled to Putin.

Going mask-off with his disregard towards Christians now that he's no longer friends with Steven Chowder.

The guy that tagged you and pestered you is that same Saudi guy you banned. We promise we will never tag you in this thread again. Please Ooperator, please de-feature this.

Remember how in 2016 he gaslighted people into thinking he was the anti-war candidate? Remember how people fell for it again in ‘24?
Well, I kinda agree...but for a different reason. Trump wants to do regime change in Venezuela.

Not that I'm against getting rid of Nicolas Maduro for illegally seizing power after losing a democratic election, but I wouldn't go around claiming I'm non-interventionist but then getting on the CIA's case for dragging their heels on an operation they don't feel like doing (despite Tankies claiming the CIA is trying to erase socialism from the world).

There is really no cope here. This is just a massive blow to all those resisting Jewish power. Treachery, backstabbing and internal sectarian fighting are always and everywhere the best friend of the Jew. HTS did not win a military victory. There was no fight for Syria, they simply folded, making it impossible for those that wanted to help, to actually do so.

How exactly this happened, I am not sure. I was completely blown away by the total lack of resistance from the SAA. But several Syrian generals and the Prime Minister seemed totally content with the situation. I don't know how long the axis of perfidy of Israel, the US and Turkey had been undermining and making deals with officials and generals within Syria, but however long it was, when the word was given they just folded.

All those years of fighting for nothing. And now the takfiris are going to rampage across the land chopping off heads, looting, burning and terrorizing Christians, Shia and secularists as the Jews carve out more territory, take strategic outposts, capture more of the border with Lebanon and destroy all military and defense capabilities of the former government, making sure that whatever quasi state arises in the wake of Assad will be completely defenseless. All while the takfir scum do nothing because they can't actually fight anyone but defenseless old women.

What an absolute and utter tragedy.

Hey, takfir scum that insisted you support Palestine, go on now. You won. You are on the border with Israel. Do your thing fgts. Oh what's that, the jews are grabbing territory and bombing all the military gear you 80 IQ retards have no idea how to operate? WHO COULD HAVE PREDICTED IT. But enjoy tearing down Christmas trees and killing old ladies.
-
A funny trend I have seen is people splitting hairs over HTS and ISIS and mad that I have been saying ISIS controls Idlib for years. I am glad you were annoyed at this and I hope you stay mad. I am not interested in your nuance. Jewlani was in ISIS and the split was purely based on personal power interests. They are the same low IQ, mop bearded, head chopping inbred monsters they always have been.

Being nuanced about this let's the Jews, the CIA and the State dept. get away with this moderate rebel shit and pretend they are not just supporting the people that they have told America that they are fighting for years. So when talking to Americans, you just tell them it's ISIS. You can get all the way off my back with your corrections and nuance on this. That shit only helps Jews. So when you do it, I have to assume that is your intent.

A few more takes here and there and everywhere (a, a, a, a):

In Orthodoxy there is a concept called "Typology" where things are more or less examples or "types" of things to come.

So we consider Lenin, some Popes or Nero to be types of antichrist but not THE antichrist.
Your messiah will be THE antichrist.

Im not going to shit the thread up with offtopic religious talk anymore, especially with a goofy heeb. @ me in the religion board if you like.
Some retard who can't comprehend someone disagreeing with him about Joos not being a Joo, pontificating about his deep knowledge of kikery as it relates to Christian exegesis. You spergs want to get in your retarded Joosperging, then of course you say 'oh no don't shit up the thread not cool it's so offtopic,' when someone says you're retarded after you started it in the first place. It's a weird and pathetic attempt at a power move

I'm so glad you know how to use Wikipedia, but you're leaving out a little bit. Typology is an interpretation of the Old Testament's foreshadowing of the New Testament. It is not exclusive to Orthodoxy, and indeed it is common to claim that individuals and events are types of this or that figure or event in the Bible. But you referencing it here is also a cute attempt at some good old post hoc. See, Nero was a type of the Anti-Christ, not the true and honest Anti-Christ! If you look, you'll find that most such explanations come decades or centuries after the now-"type" Anti-Christ had died a mortal death, Jesus didn't make an appearance, so obviously that guy wasn't the true and honest Anti-Christ. At the time, to the majority Nero was definitely the true and honest Anti-Christ, in hindsight, nope, just a type! But most definitely some Jew is gonna be the true and honest Anti-Christ... because. This guy said so in his exegesis of Daniel. Or that guy said so in his exegesis of Revelation. No not that guy, his exegesis had a different opinion on whether the Third Temple is really the rebuilt Second Temple, or a new Temple built on the site, or whatever, and whether the Anti-Christ will be an out-and-out Jew, or a man claiming to be Christian who worms his way into the Church and takes it over, ruling the world from the seat of the Church with the Church itself as the vessel of the Third Temple. Only these guys who conclusively identified the Anti-Christ with a Jew in their exegeses of Daniel, 2 Thessalonians, Revelation, etc., count

Not that it matters to my Protestant ass what Orthodox believe tbh but you make flimsy excuses to cling to your Joo sperging no matter what

...is it too late to suggest Christians of different denominations all hold hands and sing Kumbaya against the ones terrorizing the Syriac Christians?

I think it is important, when evaluating the various prognostications of how the post-Assad condition of Syria is going to play out, to consider whether the prognosticator successfully called the collapse of the regime in a public manner well in advance of said collapse actually occurring. If they didn't do that, you should consider the possibility that the prognosticator is blowing smoke (and cope).

I don’t think a change in government in Syria has anything to do with the antichrist.

Thanks to Israel the Jews were involved though. So /pol/tards got that right at least. Though they very much would have preferred Al-Assad removed in 2011, not reign for another 14 years so their refugee conspiracies are still retarded.

Crazy to think that Bashar fucked up bad enough that Russia would rather have Turkey take over instead.
Crazy is thinking Russia has any say in how things are going down now their puppet is toppled and their bases are effectively at the mercy of the next power that emerges.

(not sure if someone else said this already, but TL;DR)

To be entirely correct, it depended on Iranian support; Modern support largely flowed from that. the USSR had a history with the Al-Assads, but Russia would have dealt with any legitmate power that would agree to their lease terms. Iran on the other hand had a vested interest in ensuring Syria stayed vehemently anti-jew, and due to that more than any other factor got modern Russia to continue full-fisted support for Bashir.

I've heard many things about Gaddafi; NATO claims he was a military dictator that pretended to be a socialist that had revolutionary councils running the country, but that he would just overrule them and imprison dissenters if he didn't agree with them. I doubt Hillary Clinton and Dubya would want to experience the current life of Libyans over life during the Ghaddafi years if they were forced to wear their shoes.
You must remember that younger Ghadafi was more of a piece of shit than Eldr Ghadafi. The "peace and prosperity" of pre-revolution Libya was due to Ghadafi having largely done his genociding.

He was definitely a HUGE sponsor of terrorism in the 70s and 80s, giving funding and safe harbor to terrorists and allowing nearly every islamic terror org to set up training camps on Libyan soil. Libya was directly responsible for the Lockerbie Bombing. By the late 90s, without the USSR funding the sowing of discord in North Africa and the PLO relaxing, he'd mellowed out.

Also remember that for as "nice" as those cities looked the average Libyan was still an illiterate ditch-shitter. He had done nothing to bring his county actual prosperty or lift them from their goat-fucking state. All of those nice buildings were in cities that "belonged" to his tribe and they were meant to show status not actually improve Libya.

Granted he hadn't really done anything really bad to anyone outside of Libya in about the 10 years before the revolution, but his fate was not wholly undeserved.

Why do people keep treating this like some kind of own? Times change and the guy effectively runs a country now,
Sheesh no kidding. Like Trump is literally Hitler, and now it's time to have a nice smooth transition to Hitler's second Presidential administration. I mean c'mon let's not pretend that anyone, let alone the U.S. Gov't, actually means what they say and that they should be held to any sort of consistency.

I think it all boils down to whether or not Erdogan feels like he has the international clout to go all out on annihilating the Kurds. This really just depends on the US' willingness to punish the Turkish state if it interferes with its own ambitions in the region.
It's even more complicated than that. "The Kurds" are not a monolithic entity. The Syrian Kurds are far more revolutionary and sympathetic to the PKK in Turkey, and more than a few truckloads of American supplied weapons have gone missing and ended up in Turkey in the hands of the PKK. Not that I care, Turkey can eat a bag of dicks, but thems the brakes. The Syrian Kurds are basically cowboys. They don't really give a fuck about Turkey or Syria or geopolitics in general and just aggressively work towards their own goals. They are also generally Kurdish nationalists. They would like to see an independent Kurdistan. This puts them at odds with Iraqi Kurdistan and the Peshmerga, which explicitly do not want an independent Kurdistan, and view the cowboy behavior of the YPG as potentially fucking up the good thing the Iraqi Kurds have going on. There's a lot of friction between the Peshmerga and YPG.
Bashar Al-Assad's staying power depended on Putin's support.
And Iran and their proxies, mostly Hezbollah. Obviously this dried up when Ukraine and Israel kicked off.
Assad didn't command the respect dictators like Gaddafi cultivated.
Their power based were different. As I stated earlier, Gaddafi's power came from the fact that his tribe was very powerful, and he secured the loyalty of other powerful tribes via a complex patronage system. Assad, meanwhile, was an Alawite. The Alawites are weird. I won't go into it all here but basically they're technically Muslim but also are an independent ethno-religious group that has its own beliefs. They are a sizeable minority, between 10-15% of the Syrian population depending on the numbers you use, but have a significantly outsized representation in the political and management classes, so they, for a long time, have dominated the political and economic sectors of the country. That's where Assad has historically gotten his powe from.
NATO claims he was a military dictator that pretended to be a socialist that had revolutionary councils running the country, but that he would just overrule them and imprison dissenters if he didn't agree with them.
Yeah in a nutshell, pretty much. He also did shit like provide arms to anti government groups in Europe and bombed civilian airliners full of Europeans and Americans.
Supporters of Gaddafi claimed Gaddafi was the reason the quality of life was so high, and the real reason NATO overthrew him was to stop Libya from using Gold Bars as the new Libyan Dinar.
Oil money and Soviet aid. Additionally, see the above parts about supplying European insurgents and blowing up civilians. Libya didn't have the gold resources and didn't have the money to go to a gold standard, I can assure you that was definitely not in the cards, especially for a socialist country. Additionally, it would make tribes not aligned with Gaddafi less reliant on the government, because who gave a shit about the Libyan sand token? The only people that would accept it are other Libyans. If he went to a gold standard, or even a gold currency as you said, immediately these potential trouble groups have the ability to import goods and trade with the outside world without going through an intermediary.
stability Gaddafi had to offer. I doubt Hillary Clinton and Dubya would want to experience the current life of Libyans over life during the Ghaddafi years if they were forced to wear their shoes.
Here's the deal though, the Libyan Civil War was not the result of NATO meddling. While you can argue that Gaddafi might have won without NATO intervention, NATO merely intervened in an ongoing event. Gaddafi's power base was already crumbling, and the economy was already on a long downward slide.
He dipped out because his position was untenable. The SAA had been hollowed out by 13 years of civil war, the economic infrastructure was in shambles, and what economic apparatus that still existed was being exploited by Iran and Russia. Once the rebels came out swinging and it was clear the Russians and Iranians weren't saving him this time, he knew it was time to leave. There was simply no gas left in the tank.

What is the US and Israel bombing exactly? If the Assad government is gone (which they were against), who exactly are they targeting and for what reason?
US is bombing:
1) ISIS in the area southwest of Dor-ez-Zeir and east of Palmyra.
2) it did launch *some* JDAMs & A-10 brrrt on pro-Assad/pro-Iranian shiite militias trying to cross from Iraq into Syria prior to SDF seizing the corridor; but this is not a current thing as much as "technically" from two days ago.

Israel is bombing:
1) old Syrian equipment (long range rockets, Tochka ballistic missiles, surface to air missiles and possibly gear such as fighter jets and artillery guns).
2) Hezbollah units as they cross into and more recently out of Syria.
It's basically trying to minimize the amount of Syrian gear anyone else can get their hands on, be they Sunni, Shia or Druze.

This point should be constantly talked about. It's extremely difficult for a civil war to be even mostly the result of foreign meddling, especially if the country doing it is on the opposite side of the globe. Coups sure, but those aren't protracted and very bloody conflicts so are a whole different beast. If Gaddafi and Assad weren't such shitty leaders that enough of their citizens became so sick of seeing them that they will took up arms and were numerous enough that they become a legitimate threat to their governments, then no intervention by NATO would have happened in the first place.
