2024 Syrian opposition offensives - The first Syrian rebel offensive against Government forces since March 2020

TBCF the US still has Camp X-Ray in Cuba despire the Cubans being terminally butthurt about it - but if they did anything to actually dislodge it, those lease payments.....
The US never took as active a role in helping the Batista regime kill its own people as Russia did Assad, though. Not that Batista ever did anyways, slaughter of your own is more of a Semite/Slav thing.

There is a good chance "Syria" ceases to exist, and multiple nations spring up in the aftermath.
Wouldn't that be a good thing? I've heard a lot of the instability in the middle east was caused from the Brits and French just to randomly group together different ethnicities in a nation before fucking off and those internal pressure eventually boil off to civil wars ending in brutal dictatorships.

I mean... maybe? We're kinda watching history at the moment. I can't tell you. The best outcome for them, in theory, would be to put aside their differences and rebuild. I doubt they can. Separating probably has the least bloodshed if they agree on it.

Then the US should have assisted Russia in 2016.
Are you having a stroke?
So the ex-isis, ex-alqaeda guy who's in charge talks about tolerance and diversity but makes no mention of elections.
The Transitional Government is headed by the current Syrian PM and has announced they will continue to run public services for a period of 18 months to allow for political parties to form before holding elections. Whether or not this is what will happen is anyone's guess, but to say there's no plan for elections is incorrect.

Not internationally recognized states, but proto or quasi states, yes. This is what I currently think will happen. The only way I don't see this happening is if the US works with its regional partners to institute some kind of horrific federal monstrosity like Bosnia with a rotating presidency passing between autonomous constituent republics.

With how much internal migration and displacement there has been since the war started, I don't think that the new states that pop up will be stable.
Joe is right, we need to liberate the people from themselves. We just keep Joeing BidenBros.
Ridin' with Biden

Real "here's how Bernie can still win" energy in this thread since Mr. Bassad skipped town, somehow even moreso than before he skipped town
Lol, the single mother from NYC and Warhammer austist might have jumped out of windows.

It’s Assover
So true.
Lol. The Assadist Twitter rakes, especially that fucking retard Partisan Girl, have been amazing.
It was all a ruse. They tricked the Rebels into entering the cities. Now they are trapped with thousands of paratroopers about to drop any minute now.
This is actual cope I read here and on Twitter not even a week ago lol.

The IRANIAN AXIS KF RESISTANCE has been shattered and destroyed.

Their cmost capable "member" left semi standing are the Houthis in Yemen, a bunch of drug addicts who don't control the entire country.

Hamas..... Finished

Hezzbollah.... Humiliated and badly hurt, possibly terminally.

Iran aligned militias in Iraq.... Almost completely ineffective and regularly get vaporized by American airstrikes.

Iran itself..... Shown to be a paper tiger and the Ayatollah is dying. Economic basket case. No nukes. SHITTY conventional military.

Massive Iranian L

Thats the cope take that modern historians make. The regions always have, always are, and always will be in a constant state of fighting each other. No magical division of the map, no matter how perfect, will stop pajeets or arabs from fighting each other.

Arabs who are still pressed about Sykes-Picot in 2024 often want Arab countries to be bigger or united as one, not smaller.

I assume the only reason we care is Israel.
Was there any doubt?
but kicking Iran and Russia out from the Med was going to be the real gain.
The only thing we'll be kicking is another 5 million syrians and assorted "refugees" to our shores, specially now that the turks are already telling the syrians there to fuck off back home.

Saidnaya prison is filled with hidden cells dug into the ground and concrete. Rescuers have been knocking through walls looking for missing prisoners all day. This is the moment some thought they heard a voice behind a wall in one of these hidden cells. Pandemonium.

That's an A-tier prison for third world standards.
So you shouldn't actively fight for your nations independence?
Independence from what?
it was all 17D chess move by Putin to pwn the hohols."
There's no conspiracy here, we're not gonna leave Ukraine after burning billions on it and get nothing for it, and this failure in Syria its far more humiliating for Russia that it will be for us to force Ukraine to just give up on all that territory. Russia its being bleed out as planned, what's happening is they're given the choice to stop bleeding, but we can fight them to the last ukranian if necessary.

modern historians
No, not historians. That's the cope from revisionists and political science fags.

Historians (I can say this, as a historian) have said pretty much the entire time that the problem with modern states in the Middle East is that the lack of civic ties. Basically, it doesn't matter where the boundaries are because in order to have a functional state you need the constituents to buy in to the idea of a unitary entity. Largely, the Middle East doesn't have that. The people that are constituents of these countries have their primary loyalties to their tribe. This is the issue in Libya right now. Gaddafi managed to maintain power for so long because he had the loyalty of many tribes via a complicated patronage system. Iraq has a similar issue where many government positions and a number of parliamentary seats are reserved for certain groups, and if they weren't, the Shia would just run roughshod over everyone else and the Kurds would just go back to their armed isolation in the north.

Obviously the politically correct crowd cannot subscribe to the idea that "some people just cannot make a functional state," so they came up with the colonizer shit post facto.

With people like the Druze
Its looking like the Druze have decided Israel is a preferable ruler. Remains to be seen just how "large" a buffer the IDF intends to establish in southern Syria, but if the war map is to be believed they are pushing pretty deep. The move to seize Mount Hermon and the surrounding countryside pretty much aligns with the populations of Druze in that area.

Its looking like Israel at a minimum intends to Annex the Hermon range of the Anti-Lebanon mountains. I don't see Israel pulling out of this area any time soon. Most of the people in that area are related to other Druze tribals in Golan who have been pretty loyal citizens over the past couple of Generations. This may be a state building exercise in progress by Netanyahu's government.

*edit* and to add, control of this area would be the death knell for Hezbollah, as it would cut off Southern Lebanon from Syria. Any Iranian smuggling operations going foreword would have to go through checkpoints controlled by Christians and the Lebanese army.

Yes, those are better terms. I couldn't think of what to call them when I wrote my post.
It's fine. They're peddled as "historians" by media outlets and political parties, and many of them even have history degrees, but they're not what we call "working" historians. They're not actually reading and researching things to develop a better understanding of the past, and therefore the present, they're just using their credentials to push a political narrative.

To look at how good a historian is, it's much more useful to look at their published works or what think tanks they've worked at instead of their CV.

Nobody is doing this. I have no idea why so many retards keep saying this. The entire reason the US is announcing an intervention is because nobody wants a new terrorist state.

No. As I stated in my earlier post, the three main groups currently controlling ground are HTS, the "Syrian Democratic Forces" which is what previously referred to as "the Kurds" which is now a mix of Arab Democrats, Kurds, Assyrians, and Yazidis, and the Southern Operations Room, which is mostly Druze tribesmen and their allies. The Druze are already armed and organized and control a significant part of the south.
Syrian Druze don't exist in one contiguous area, and an independent state in the Jabal (which has a lot of Christians and Sunnis anyways) would be tiny and have literally nothing:

Which is why immigration is going to make Europe a clusterfuck.
