I never understand this argument.

One, a lot of sugars humans always used were pretty fructose-heavy. Like honey and dates. It's not like the body has no idea what to do with fruit sugar. Two, WE in the US produce at least some cane sugar, in states like Louisiana and Texas and maybe even Hawaii if the real estate isn't too valuable for that now. Three, white people like Fatrick evolved far away from cane sugar. Why would they be particularly sensitive to fructose when for thousands of years most Europeans were sweetening things mostly with honey (including making alcohol - mead - from it) and whatever fruit was around (mostly raisins)? Cane sugar wasn't even readily available to average working Europeans until really recently in history, it's not like his ancestors evolved only to be able to cope with that.

HFCS is not a health food but neither is cane sugar. If manufacturers couldn't use HFCS anymore, they would add huge amounts of cane sugar, date syrup, beet sugar, maple sugar - WHATEVER to the food, because too many Americans are overgrown children like Fatrick and really like sweet food and soda. Corn syrup like Karo syrup has been around since the 1800s at least. Even if it's mostly only used for that egg membrane experiment in science classes today, corn syrup from a barrel is what ye pioneers in olde Wisconsin were buying at the general store. Rick's not fatter than they are because corn sugar = bad. He's fatter because he's lazy, junk food is more available, and he doesn't work period let alone doing physical labor on a dairy farm or building things.

If Fatrick was drinking cane sugar soda, not HFCS soda, he would still be a lardass. Soda is still *almost never* a good choice, unless you're crashing after an endurance test (long bike ride or run) or having a diabetic episode. The way you stay fit is by not eating like a retard. You may crave something but guess what? You can just not give into a craving sometimes.

If you eat mostly real food, and you move around a bit, you don't get that fat. At age 40 you might go from a 32 to 34 waist. But you don't become Rick or anything. But if you went to Hooligan's all the time, drank too much, and ate a lot of salty restaurant food that's also fried, you would get fat. And if you stressed yourself out by engaging with Pests 6hrs/day instead of ignoring them, the cortisol might even help keep you even more unusually fat.
