I disagree, in fact I think this is exactly why they will win. You said it; they have ZERO principals. Whatever work for us is good and the second it stop working it's bad. The ability to do Double-Think is priceless. They never hesitate, never pause, never doubt themselves for a second because all the want is power and they've made a "ethics" system that caters to that goal. They will befriend anyone and then drop them a second later without pause or hint of shame.

The Mo-Dem's may have power and money but they lack the unity and numbers. The Mo-Dems are a dying breed I think and like always when times are hard the fringes grow at the cost of the moderates.

Maybe it's my naivete showing here but I disagree. The abscence of morals will definitely help you in the short term, but long term it'll come back to bite you. The best example I can think of is the treatment of a particular dementia patient, who used all his influence to get back at the Dems. Morality is powerful on its own, just maybe not immediately rewarding.

Depends on what you mean with a “truly bad deal”. You can always PR message things like giving up territory later with “Well, you know… They were Russian anyways! This means stability!”

One thing that would make the US looks even worse than a “bad deal” for Ukraine btw, is the current situation where they’re losing hard.

Morally speaking the bad deal is the one where thousands of people die every day so I'll agree on that. I'm more talking about Russia's insistence on what a post deal Ukraine can do. Russia wants the land it claims and to ensure Ukraine can never rebuild or make strong partnerships with NATO or the EU. That makes Trump look weak because it's simply a bad deal for Ukraine. It's all Putin deciding the agenda. Like it or not, whatever the US accepts is a direct indictment on US foreign policy. Either the US is happy to let geopolitical rivals do what they want or the US involves in another forever war, this time with a world power.

He and Vance have discussed some ideas publicly. One is a DMZ. I'm guessing they halt the war as it stands, build a demilitrized zone with a trillion mines, and call it there. The lure would be the threat of sending Ukraine 1000 Abrams, shit like that, complete overkill. I've also heard not letting them join NATO for 20 years, so Russia would get that.

A DMZ only kicks the can down the road and potentially makes a true peace more expensive in the long run. A timeline like 20 years is honestly way too bad for Ukraine, it's an empty platitude because Russia can regenerate it's military on that time scale. Maybe they're hoping Russia implodes before then but that's not only more dangerous for global peace, it's also probably not going to happen. A DMZ is probably a realistic outcome but fuck me if it doesn't feel like a shit show waiting to happen.

A lot of patriotism in school curriculum wise comes down to civics. Which is the basic understanding on how the government operates. Some states have it, many don't. It's why a large amount of people in the country don't understand how the system works: they were never taught it. Fuck, a lot of history class is just "America bad" at times I'd you got a real libtard teacher.

Same is true of the UK. I was never taught of the House of Lords/Commons, nor was I taught about the Left/Right Auth/Lib axes.

Though personally. I probably wouldn't even go into politics until you cover a few other key concepts first.

If I ever somehow got called up and they went "yeah we saw you on Kiwifarms and want you to rewrite the curriculum", I would say "okay, don't even fucking teach a single lesson of politics until you've done lessons on cognitive biases, logical fallacies, ethical frameworks and some very basic philosophy".

We have people lecturing you about politics who can't even tell you why burden of proof lies on the person making the claim rather than the person refuting it. Teaching people how to think and reason out new ideas just isn't on the curriculum most of the time.
