The Founding Fathers set this country up exactly so that those types of people didn't get the vote. What isn't taught in civics class is that there's this thing called a mixed government where democratic, monarchic, and aristocratic aspects are all used in one government in order to help balance things out. The U.S was originally set up as a mixed government, which is why we have a President (monarchic aspect), the Senate (which was supposed to be the aristocratic part given that state electors originally chose them and that every state has 2 senators), and the House (democratic aspect). However, disasters like the direct election of Senators, the 19th Amendment, and the general extension of the voter franchise coupled with the invention of mass media making it so that the media can get to decide who runs this country has turned this country into a mass democracy, which is one of the primary factors behind the overexpansion of the state and the construction of homegrown tyranny. When people say that this country is a republic (mixed government), not a democracy, they are right in the sense that this country was meant to be a republic, but through degeneration has become a tyrannical mass democracy.
