Wrapped up Symphonia over the weekend, the puzzles and dungeons sucked but the cast and story were good. I can't tell if I was over powered or if Mr Mean Man was just a huge pussy even with his second form Hail Mary.
Looking forward to diving into Vesperia soon.

Lloyd FUCKS during the end game even if you ignore titles and EX gems.
 
So far the combat in Vesperia is a little more fluid and the party ai is smarter. There's still a few rough edges like Yuri swinging at where a slowly moving enemy was instead of where it is, but that's only come up a few times so far.

Karol is a fucking dweeb.

Just so you know Vesperia's combat is probably the most mechanically deep in the series. I'm not going to say to go out of your way to learn tech for this game, but learning Manual Cancelling to help with comboing does make the game feel way better. Also the other party members, especially the ones you get way later on in the game are extremely fun to fuck around with. Really makes me wish Narikiri Dolls were in this game.

Yeah, the rest of the party feels a hell of a lot easier to play as compared to Symphonia. I can tell this game's story is going to be a slow burn but that's ok, and having voiced skits is a blessing.

I'm hearing rumors that Phantasia is going to get a 3D remake for the anniversary, what do you guys think about that idea?

I forgot the English version of Symphonia didn't bother dubbing the skits. The voice acting in Vesperia is stellar but in certain skits and cutscenes, you're going to notice a horrible drop in quality from Yuri because they couldn't get him back for the PS3 exclusive content. It's not unbearable but it does suck that they couldn't bring him back.

As for the Phantasia remake, I doubt it's going to happen, they have their hands full with the Remastered Project. Personally, I'd love to see the JP only titles brought over to English first over a remake, especially one that will probably not use LMBS and will probably use a retrofitted version of the Arise battle system.
 
I've been interested in trying out the Tales series but I wouldn't know where to start since I've never played a single game. I have Tales of Arise, Berseria, Symphonia, Vesperia Definitive Edition and Zestiria on Steam and I'm thinking about buying a Steam Deck since I have jury duty next week and god only knows how long I'm gonna be stuck there. I've had my eye on Vesperia since I've been told that it's a good starting point for newcomers but I don't know anything about it like the story, characters, setting and gameplay etc.

The Tales of series are a series of action JRPGs with gameplay that varies between entries. I'd recommend playing Symphonia (the first 3D entry) and Vesperia DE (one of the best 3D entries) as a first entry, then move on to Berseria even if the gameplay is significantly worse than those two. I personally do not recommend Arise or Zestria.

If you don't have a super high tolerance for anime/JRPG tropes, you'll probably end up hating this series. This shit is extremely blatant about its influences and tropes. The casts for these games are extremely solid, though some fall into tropes. Skits (minor conversations usually either about the goings on of the plot or some random bullshit) do a lot of work fleshing out the cast and by the end of these games you usually end up missing the cast because of how much time you spend with them throughout the game. The settings usually differ from game to game with the exception of a couple. Usually these exceptions are thousands of years between eachother so I wouldn't worry about it too much though.

I know they're JRPG's but I meant which game would be a good entry point. I only bought a bunch of them because they were all discounted in a big Steam sale a while ago, but I never got around to playing them due to my backlog and real life getting in the way.

Oh my bad, I mentioned Symphonia or Vesperia as one of the first entries.
 
Symphonia has one of the best dubs in the series. Though if we are specifically looking at best performances, Yuri Lowenthal wins by default as Luke in Abyss. No spoilers but he does everything including the five states of grief and also screaming his lungs out at points. Surprised he didn't damage his vocal cords like Jessica Calvello did.

Did they ever find out who actually voiced Judith in Vesperia? Originally it was rumored to be Megan Hollingshead, then Lara Jill Miller although she confirmed it was not her.

Do skills like Mighty Charge work on Karol if the AI is using him? The wiki and guides aren't about this.

Sad to say Graces might be the actual first 'perfect' remaster in that

Nah some of the DLC skits are being translated to English for the first time and the whole cast didn't get back together. Not nearly as bad as the Vesperia remaster as it isn't important story content though.
