Business X is capitulating to Brazil’s Supreme Court - In a surprising move Elon Musk’s social media site, X, had agreed to abide by Brazilian court orders.

Brazilian fan account owners might have a reason to rejoice, as X could be returning to Brazil. According to the New York Times, in a court filing Friday night the company agreed to abide by the Supreme Court’s request in order to have the countrywide ban lifted:

Now, X’s lawyers said the company had done exactly what Mr. Musk vowed not to: take down accounts that a Brazilian justice ordered removed because the judge said they threatened Brazil’s democracy. X also complied with the justice’s other demands, including paying fines and naming a new formal representative in the country, the lawyers said.

The company has spent the last three weeks fighting the ban and continuing to distribute content from members of the far right community in Brazil. This led to X being blocked by Brazilian ISPs, and eventually trying to get around the blocks with some help from Cloudflare.

But earlier this week things appeared to shift. As the New York Times notes, it began when X engaged with new lawyers in Brazil on Thursday. Then came the filing Friday. The Brazilian Supreme Court confirmed X’s interest in returning to the country according to a filing Saturday and has given the company five days to comply with the court order.

This is all at odds with how vocal X owner Elon Musk has been about defending “free speech” in the country. Yet now that X has agreed, in court filings, to abide by the ruling it will have five days to comply.

If you give a Huehue a bag of sugar, they'll confuse it for cocaine and try to snort it and then ask for more cocaine.

It's a classic children's book that Elon must have missed out on as a kid due to his disadvantaged African American status.

:null: The almighty feeder doesn't fold to tyranny!
This isn't even 'folding to tyranny' though. It's more like 'folding to some stupid cunt you don't actually need to give a shit about for reasons probably relating to Stripe payments' since he could snap his fingers, cut off service to Brazil, and be better off for it.

Nigger's scared of being vibe-checked by the banking industry should he not take the fucking hint. But it's not direct tyranny coming from Brazil at a minimum. Unless someone can elucidate as to why he should otherwise give a fuck about Brazil or this colon-weasel.
What would you have done, random Kiwifarmer? Would you bend the knee, or would you have sent them a Mario Goatse gif, telling them to go fuck themselves?
I would've posted a picture of this faggot judge with a crosshair over it on my platform because having the world's richest man become debanked would be the biggest mask-slip in human history.

Musk was and always will be a government bitch. This shouldn't surprise anyone as he's the recipient of billions in subsidies. The whole freedom of speech shit is just clout chasing but it's secondary.

It's not secondary. He bought the tool and now has to try and re-legitimize it in the eyes of the public to resell to the moneyed interests to which he ultimately answers. He's a retard who accidentally put himself in the position of a man who needs to launder the reputation of 'the world's public square' so it's usable as a means of consensus cracking/establishment again.

For Twitter to be 'profitable' he must first return it to the place in the minds of public 'thought leaders' so he can in effect sell influence.

as much as this board love to go lol third world country, Brazil is pretty big and theres a decent amount of people there. End of the day. Twitter needs to do business and sometime that mean giving up on your ideals.

Sad that it set more precedent for X to cuck to other countries. Freedom of speech isnt something enshrined in most countries like the US and even the US has to fight for it at times. The slow erosion of speech worldwide is saddening but a reality. We live in too comfortable a time for people to rise up and hang tyrant by lamppost, especially when its not you being directly affected.

See:

Twitter is not and has never been profitable in much the same way corporate/mass/'mainstream' media (CNN, FOX, et al) have never been profitable. Currency is many things, one of which is an abstraction of power and influence. Twitter's value is the same as CNN's value of yesteryear.

If he were to genuinely attempt to make twitter profitable the correct choice here still would've been to refuse as he'd be the only major player with any meaningful notch on his belt. As it stands he's failed both the business plan of laundering its reputation to sell influence and the attempt to make it marketable as 'the free speech platform' which is the only thing it has going for it other than legacy inertia.

This is not about profit in the linear sense. I agree with the rest of your post though.

I guess this sets a precedent. Bad move on his part I say, if he wasn't going to go through it, and stand by his word, then why even start.

What would you have done, random Kiwifarmer? Would you bend the knee, or would you have sent them a Mario Goatse gif, telling them to go fuck themselves?
My bet is that his balls are getting squeezed by whomever helped him with the money, in short notice, to go through with the buying of Twitter.

Either that or he's a massive schizo. This flip flopping makes no sense, even for him.

Or maybe he's just a retard who didn't do the numbers before deciding to fight for free speech, and had to backtrack once he realized how fucked he'd be financially.

I admit I'm not too familiar with Brazilian governmental structures but if I'm not mistaken didn't Brazil just elect someone else as their highest leader?

Why is this guy and all his supporters and everyone else just okay with sitting around twiddling their thumbs while some judge decides he's the supreme dictator and starts ordering around everyone about everything? Doesn't that kind of make them look like pussies? Yeah sure he's doing stuff they agree with but he's also displacing the rest of the government, and thats not a good look even if they are ideologically aligned right? If you don't give a shit about the rule of law anyway wouldn't it be better to be the dictator yourself?

I mean all the libtards and Dems in high office at least pretend to like Ketanji Jackson and would be in agreement with policies she wants to implement but it'd be strange if they and every other institution government body and military force just sat around as she appointed herself Empress of America and started ruling with an iron fist as the sole monarch.
