They form a largely coherent narrative that even Alex Jones can follow. It's actually kind of neat that Lucas attempted to build a Greek Tragedy out that story. Modern Capeshit is the only genre that has that kind of ambition to tell a massive story, if not the ability. Flawed execution does not mean flawed story.

Prequel hate got me to dislike Gen X more than Boomers. They flipped their shit on the most inconsequential event in their lifetimes and their whining is what led the Sequel Trilogy to be the way that it is. The way RLM and Kevin Smith talk about the Prequels, they make it sound worse than 9/11.

It works at a narrative level, but the original trilogy wrote a lot of that backstory for him. When it came to filling in the pieces of that story and writing in the characters, Lucas failed. The original trilogy would have been a mess as well if it weren't for his ex-wife who did a lot of editing on George's scripts to fix the same problems that were evident in the prequels where no one corrected him.

Lucas is the sort of person who should be tapped for his ideas because he is a nerd at heart and can pull from a much larger pool than most. However, he needs people who can take his ideas and help shape and develop them and under no circumstances should he be allowed to write character dialog. Ambition is great, but only if it's capable of amounting to actual accomplishment.

The people at Disney who are currently making Star Wars shows, movies, etc. are also ambitious. However, they are talentless hacks who are incapable of producing anything of value. Their ambition is worthless and wasted because they cannot execute on it. At least Lucas wasn't also attempting to push an agenda in such an obvious way on top of that.
