I mean, Amy Schuemer is kind of ill fitting for Barbie, but at the same time, she's not really the first raunchy comedian to take on the role of a character in a kid's film. So the upset is somewhat unwarranted.

Still, I find it funny how delusional the people making this film are. Kinda reminds me of that one Simpsons episode involving Lisa trying to push a more feminist style doll. In the end, she said if she just got through to one little girl, it would all be worth it.

Somehow, I doubt Amy is going to stick to her noble ideals when the movie crashes and burns at the box office.

Justin Lin is revving up Hot Wheels.

The Star Trek Beyond filmmaker has closed a deal to develop, direct and produce, via his Perfect Storm Entertainment, a feature based on popular car toyline from Mattel.

Lin and Perfect Storm will also have an option to co-finance the project.

A Hot Wheels movie has been made, despite iterations being in development since 2003. McG was at one point attached to direct and produce for Columbia before it landed in the garage of Joel Silver and Warners. Legendary picked up the rights in earlier this decade. Simon Crane came on board to direct it in 2013 but the project has been sitting idle since 2014.

To mirror Barbie, they should get Seth Rogen for the lead.

To be fair, doing a live action Barbie movie would be a horrible idea regardless of who makes it and who is in it. That being said, I have to agree with Jaimas and wonder why Sony would announce this before they even started pre-production. If they're trying to use the "controversy" to create interest in the film, now is a terrible time to do it. Most people are going to forget about the Barbie movie by New Years, and by the time the movie is actually being released they'll probably be some new controversy that brings out the internet's autism.
