Online grooming isn't real, and never will be. It's the exact same as cyberbullying. If you don't interact with the internet, then it won't occur. 95% of online grooming cases go as far as 'I did weird sexting shit with some equally dysgenic loser that I now regret.' The few times where it actually matters (thinking back to the O9A cases, killing family pets and carving losers names into your thigh) is more than likely the 'victims' fault for interacting with clearly mentally unwell people in the first place.

Turn the screen off or block them, and you won't be groomed.

Disagree, what you said is 100% correct for adults, but lots of kids and young teenagers are given unrestricted access to the Internet at a young age.

Some of them wind up being exposed to furry and trans shit before they know who they are. They can be convinced at a young age that they are trans or a furry especially if they are exposed to sick shit will they are starting their sexual development. There's a reason why this site is 18+

As for OP's question. When I was 15 a tranny kept dming me for me to send it photos of my dick. I just blocked them tbh.

I agree on principle, despite the fact you literally proved my point six lines down. Most teenagers and children are advised in school (where I live, at least) on the basics of internet safety. There's very little that can be said otherwise.

Regardless, the issue is less grooming and more of the fact underages shouldn't be on the internet period. I pity the so-called victims, of course, but empathy is much harder. Agree to disagree.

Looking back, there were definitely several attempts in my early days of computing from 1999-2003 or so.

One was an on-line snooker and pool game I used go play a lot, probably when I was about 10 or 11. Mostly UK based players, but you'd occasionally get some random tourist from like Kyrgyzstan.

I remember some older guy from London would repeatedly ask for my MSN details every time we matched together, and would always enter my games if I created a new room. I just thought he was an annoying lonely guy back then, but 100% he was trying to make inroads to fuck kids. I ended up never playing that game again after a while.

Also a lot of similar attempts in Habbo Hotel, back when that was a thing. The penny didn't drop at the time, but my natural wariness and scepticism came in and saved me.

Oh, and in real life: I was once waiting for my friend on the corner of the street near his house, as he was due to arrive home soon per a phone call shortly beforehand. I distinctly remember drinking a soda while leaning on a fence, probably about 9 or 10 years old.

Broad daylight, a really old guy (like 70s, maybe even 80s) pulls up beside the kerb, and opens the car door. He kept saying 'are you getting in lad?' while getting increasingly more irate. Scary thing is, part of my brain actually did entertain getting in the car. He ultimately just drove off in frustration.

Are you retarded? Why is your first thought killing family pets and not the far more common crime of children being targeted online with EPI or to send explicit images. “If you don’t interact with the internet” it’s 2024, try coping without an email address.

It was too obvious to point out directly, I include it in the sexual topics with dysgenic losers bit. Don't give your child unrestricted internet access is just 'turn the computer off' with extra steps.

I'm not sure if the sentiment has changed or is changing, but for a while a common talking point about the old school internet was that since it was so unrestricted kids could/would end up seeing the craziest shit or end up talking to random creeps on like AIM, Omegal, or some random forum board, but like, even with it being more unrestricted it still took some level of effort to find any of this shit. Plenty of people grew up in the 90s and 00s when the internet had all this crazy shit freely accessible and never ended up seeing any of it, myself included, for the most part. Today, though, with how normalized degeneracy is, and with tons of creators wanting to appeal to young audiences while also still indulging in online degeneracy, you're like 3 clicks away from watching some dude go over "Top 10 Fortnite skins" to being in discord on the "Femboy destruction" channel.

no but around 2003 some other kid pretended to be a girl to borrow my WW assassin's gear in Diablo 2 and then he disappeared. He had trolls remorse later and messaged me to tell me what he did but I had already forgotten about it . I never got my stuff back, but I would have let him borrow it even if he hadn't put on the charade. I am a very generous person. That has led to me being stolen from quite a lot by fake friends. But I have always had plenty, so much of that never really bothered me. It was more saddening to lose the friends over some meaningless "stuff".
