Hey guys, real question. What was 1 thing in particular you think won the election for Trump?
Several things:
1) The Democrats alienating Bernie Sanders supporters and rigging the Democratic primaries so Hillary would become the nominee. They turned off a significant number of young people -a critical demographic- in favor of keeping the status quo. If the Bernie supporters didn't defect to Trump, they probably went for Jill Stein instead.
2) The reputation of the Clintons. If you were old enough in the 90's to remember Clinton's 2 term presidency, you'll understand why some people were reluctant to go Mk III on a Clinton presidency.
3) Disaffected and disillusioned blue collar workers in Midwest America. Believe it or not, but the Democrats were originally considered to be
the party for the working class and blue collar/rust belt types. It's why places like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, ect. all have historically been "blue". It wasn't until about the 1970's-1980's did the Democrats all but abandon that demographic. The fact the economy tanked and jobs being outsourced of the country didn't help, either.
4) WikiLeaks. Some of the stuff in that was damning, like Podesta insulting Catholics (say what you will about Catholics, but they actually have social justice issues that would align with the Democrats perfectly if they weren't anti-abortion and have a... complicated history with LGBT+, the latter of which they are trying to get better on, but I digress) and them insulting Bernie Sanders supporters. Alienating two potentially powerful groups didn't help.
5) Gender Politics. Race politics. And social justice politics in general, really. People don't like to be talked down to or demonized for being one thing over another, and shaming people for being born a certain way doesn't help. Like at all. After 8 years of dealing with Obama, White House staff in general, the media (including blowhard anus tarts like John Oliver), etc. belitting them, the silent middle class had enough.
6) Hillary's hand and actions in regards to certain events, like Benghazi and the Arab Spring. Yes, Dubya was pretty much responsible for the rise of ISIS, but Hillary as Secretary of State's actions accelerated it to where we are now, unfortunately.
