It's covered in the thread Null linked above but the results were in the concentration range of regular recreational use, not incidental exposure. She either got into it one time and had a single really high exposure that Nick just had her wait out at home instead of going to the hospital or he and Kayla were knowingly providing it to her for God knows why.

The writing was on the wall with the Monty trial, he's effectively already lost that case but is persisting through shear egotism. At this point he should just be paying Monty 50 grand to fuck off, maybe throw in an extra 25 to avoid having to make an apology. Probably started off as an actual friendship (or just clout chasing from Aaron and April and Nick/Kayla thinking they're just friends).

Now that I think of it, Aaron/April were streamers, and while not as popular as Nick, they were the only people physically close to Nick that knew what it was like to have a presence on the Internet. We all know the infamous stream where Nick complained that he couldn't integrate with his local community because he was an Internet e-celeb. The normies couldn't relate to a famous e-celeb. Aaron/April knew some of the same people as Nick online, they also did a similar job as Nick online. Nick finally found someone he could relate to and Aaron/April were more than happy to benefit off of it.
